  • Publication number: 20190258228
Abstract: A method for devising an optimum control policy of a controller for controlling a system includes optimizing at least one parameter that characterizes the control policy. A Gaussian process model is used to model expected dynamics of the system. The optimization optimizes a cost function which depends on the control policy and the Gaussian process model with respect to the at least one parameter. The optimization is carried out by evaluating at least one gradient of the cost function with respect to the at least one parameter. For an evaluation of the cost function a temporal evolution of a state of the system is computed using the control policy and the Gaussian process model. The cost function depends on an evaluation of an expectation value of a cost function under a probability density of an augmented state at time steps.

  • Patent number: 10380291
Abstract: A system and method for web-based interface design tool is provided. The design tool enables system designers to quickly and independently design a custom serial-link interface. The system provides interface selection and signal integrity analysis. An interface selection may interact with system designers to prompt for a set of selection criteria such as data-rate, supply rail, standard protocol, and intended application. An intelligent search engine screens through a large interface products database based on the selection criteria and provides designers with a list of devices that potentially meet the design criteria. The performance of the custom system with the selected device can be evaluated by using a web-based IBIS-AMI standard-compliant signal integrity simulator. A designers can have options to manually fine tune selected devices' parameters to iterate through different settings to determine the robustness of the solution.

  • Patent number: 10337254
Abstract: An earth boring bit has rotary cutters with embedded tungsten carbide inserts and milled steel teeth. The teeth and the grooves are first milled into the cutters, with the grooves extending between bases of the teeth, parallel to the crests of the teeth. Hard facing is applied to surfaces of the teeth and the grooves, and then the cutters are heat treated. Insert sockets are drilled into the teeth, centrally disposed in crests of the teeth. The tungsten carbide inserts are secured in the insert sockets, aligned for forming cutting profiles with respective ones of the milled teeth. The cutters are preferably frustoconically shaped and used for a rotary cone rock bit, and the tungsten carbide inserts configured as chisel-shaped inserts having crests which are aligned parallel to the crests of the milled steel teeth.

  • Patent number: 10300894
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an auto-braking system which includes a braking device, a receiver, and a controller. The controller includes a determining portion, a verifying portion and an executing portion. The determining portion determines whether a vehicle will violate a red signal of the traffic light based on the traffic light state information. The verifying portion verifies the traffic light state information is valid by comparing the traffic light state information with the image of the traffic light captured by the sensor. The executing portion executes a first braking control to slow the vehicle at a first deceleration rate when the determining portion determines that the vehicle will violate a red signal. The executing portion executes a second braking control to slow the vehicle at a second deceleration rate to stop at a specified position when the verifying portion verifies that the traffic light state information is valid.

  • Publication number: 20190105096
Abstract: An electrosurgical generator arranged to supply radio frequency (RF) energy to fuse tissue is provided. The generator is arranged to supply RF energy through a removably coupled electrosurgical instrument to fuse tissue grasped by the instrument. The generator monitors a phase angle of the supplied RF energy and adjusts or terminates the supplied RF energy based on the monitored phase angle in comparison to predetermined thresholds and conditions to optimally fuse the tissue. The electrosurgical instrument conducts radio frequency energy to fuse tissue captured between the jaws and a blade to mechanically cut tissue between the jaws.
