In a preferred embodiment, the clamping elements have hinge and spring components and are integral male and female snap connection elements which are extruded to form stock materials, which can then be out to length and assembled by a snap connection.

Abstract: A device for removing caps from bottles, jars, etc. The device includes a pair of handles with a pivot therebetween and a gripping band connected to the handles for tightly gripping the cap to be removed. The handles include gripping portions to tightly grip the cap in combination with the gripping band. The device may be provided with an adjustable length gripping band in combination with a band locking retainer to accommodate various size caps.

Abstract: A paper clip comprising a pair of plate elements having clamping edges, hingedly connected together. A cantilever spring extends from an inner surface of one plate element and engages with the inner surface of the opposite plate element. The cantilever spring can provide increasing clamping force with increasing document thickness.

Abstract: A plant support for providing support to the branches of a growing plant such as a tomato plant. The plant support comprises a plurality of vertical supports connected or welded to a top horizontal support leaving a remaining open side. The open side of the plant support can be completely or partially closed by integral interconnecting structure of the plant support or by separate structure and/or flexible cord, tape, wire, netting, etc. The construction allows for little or no tapering of the vertical supports in combination with side loading of other units for nesting purposes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a structurally uncomplicated, lightweight and inexpensive variable position hinge structure. The hinge structure comprises a male component, a portion of which comprises a relatively raised and non-raised portion, and a female component, a portion of which comprises a relatively raised and non-raised portion. The raised and non-raised portions of the male and female components mesh to lock the male and female components relative to each other at various positions of rotation therebetween.

Abstract: An adjustable length strip fastener is disclosed which comprises a strip of semi-rigid plastic. A plurality of uniformly and longitudinally spaced and aligned openings are defined in the strip. The openings are disposed over the entire length of the strip and are centrally disposed between the longitudinal edges of it. A longitudinally extending narrow groove is also defined in one of the surfaces of the strip. The groove is centrally disposed between the longitudinal edges of the strip and extends continuously from one end thereof to the other except at the openings. As a result, the narrow groove forms a hinge along which the strip may be folded. In use, one end of the strip can be folded along the hinge and passed through one of the openings adjacent the other end of the strip to form a loop which can be locked. Alternatively, the hinge may be formed by a plurality of small apertures cut through the strip.

Abstract: A paper clip is disclosed for clampingly engaging at least two sheets of paper. The paper clip includes a semi-rigid plastic body member, substantially U-shaped in longitudinal cross-section, having a pair of legs presenting two substantially planar interior surfaces between which paper sheets may be clamped and a longitudinally extending substantially rigid, but slightly flexible metal member fixedly secured to the body away from the interior surfaces thereof so as to present only those planar surfaces to paper sheets clamped therebetween. The metal member may be a rod or strip and may be embedded in the body member or secured to the exterior surfaces of the body member. Also, the interior surfaces of the body member may be coated with an abrasive material or roughened to increase the effective clamping hold of the clip.

Abstract: A foot sandal and method for making same, the sandal having a laminated platform having an upper and a lower layer, stirrup strapping members mounted with the platform for securing the platform to the foot with the stirrup strapping members including a loop extending through the upper layer of the laminated platform and a toe securing member adapted to be positioned adjacent toes of the foot for securing the stirrup strapping members adjacent the toe end of the laminated platform to the foot.
