  • Patent number: 5647085
Abstract: A wiper arrangement for windscreen wipers in motor vehicles in which the wiper blade is rotated, depending on the pivoting angle of the wiper arm thus conforming to the curvature of the windscreen. The entire wiper arm rotates to a certain degree as the wiper spindle pivots depending on the pivoting angle. The crank control which is fitted in a control sleeve embracing a spherical cap on the wiper spindle and being rotatable in relation thereto. The control sleeve is controlled by a circumferential control edge on the bearing sleeve of the wiper shaft.

  • Patent number: 5454134
Abstract: A windshield washing system, especially for motor vehicles, is provided with a wiper shaft, on which a wiper arm can be non-rotatably fastened and which wiper shaft includes an axial bore in order to receive a line made from form-stable plastic material with at least one channel, through which at least one washing nozzle moving in pendular motion with the wiper arm during the wiping process can be provided with washing liquid. In order to ensure that the wiper shaft takes along the line, the line is form-fittingly connected with the wiper shaft in the swivelling direction of said wiper shaft at the end of the wiper shaft turned away from the wiper arm.

  • Patent number: 5433382
Abstract: A windshield cleaning system with a spraying device is described, in which windshield cleaning system a jet element made of an elastic material is carried in an adjustable jet body formed in the shape of a ball. The jet element is formed with elastic lids forming a spraying mouth which is normally closed and which is located outside of the jet body. The spraying mouth is opened by the pressure of the washing liquid. With such an arrangement the direction of the spraying jet can be adjusted and the washing liquid is prevented from freezing due to the fact that the spraying mouth can be closed.

  • Patent number: 5327614
Abstract: A windshield cleaning system with a wiper shaft for driving a wiper arm-and-blade assembly is described, which windshield cleaning system comprises an axial bore for forming a washing liquid channel, whereby at least one electric conductor for heating the washing liquid is assigned to the washing liquid channel. Thereby the electric conductor is anchored on a pipe, which is arranged in the bore of the wiper shaft, whereby this pipe extends the end of the wiper shaft by way of at least one end portion and can detachably be connected there with a counter contact piece. Due to the plug connection of the electric conductor an easy assembly is possible.

  • Patent number: 5231730
Abstract: A wiper blade for a windshield wiper system of motor vehicles is described, in which wiper blade a reinforcing rail is secured against longitudinal movement in its central area on the wiper lip. The securement is performed by a cam pressed from the blade and received in a recess of the reinforcing rail. The relative movement between the reinforcing rail and the rubber wiper strip, which cannot be prevented when bent windshields are being wiped, is thereby evenly distributed over the two ends of the wiper strip. This improves the wiping effect of the wiper blade in comparison to known models, where the reinforcing rail is coupled to one end of the wiper strip.

  • Patent number: 5195206
Abstract: A windshield cleaning system with a washing system includes a washing liquid pipe non-rotatably fixed in a bore of a wiper shaft, the end of which washing liquid pipe is inserted into a pot-like connecting piece protected against twisting. Thereby the connecting piece is bracelessly centered with respect to the end of the washing liquid pipe so that it can also make a possible wobbling movement of the end in radial direction. Thus a long lifetime of the connecting point between the rotating end of the washing liquid pipe and the non-rotatable connecting piece is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5181293
Abstract: A wiper system, which is used especially for motor vehicles and in which the pendulum-motion of at least one wiper blade is overlapped by a motion of the wiper blade in its longitudinal direction. The wiper blade can be moved by means of a gearing that can be driven via a stroking shaft coaxially running to the wiper shaft. The stroking shaft is connected to a coupler via a stroking swivelling lever, which coupler is linked to an intermediate lever that can swivellably be driven around a fixed axis by the drive motor. In order to be able to wipe a big part of the windshield of a motor vehicle, the coupler passes a dead center when the intermediate lever is swivelling from the one reversing position to the other, in which dead center the coupler reverses the direction of its motion.

  • Patent number: 5176044
Abstract: A connection and two step method of manufacturing is disclosed for a drive unit for a wiper arm system which consists of a wiper shaft mounted in a bore through a crank arm. The wiper shaft is formed with a groove disposed within the thickness of the crank arm and material from one surface of the crank arm is displaced to form an annular recess which causes crank arm material adjacent the groove to be radially displaced into a groove formed in the wiper shaft to form an axial holding element. The radial distance R1 of the recess from the crank arm bore is substantially equal to the axial distance A1 of the groove below the one crank arm surface to facilitate the extruding process. Knurled areas on the shaft on either side of the groove are press fit into the crank arm bore as a first step in assembling the shaft to the crank arm, bringing a flange into abutment against the other surface of the crank arm.

  • Patent number: 5172449
Abstract: A windshield wiper, especially for motor vehicle, is described comprising a carrier yoke, a rubber element, and a resilient support for the rubber element on the carrier yoke. The resilient support of the rubber element includes a resilient strip with several resilient lugs pointing in a first direction and at least one resilient lug pointing in a second direction opposite to the first direction. Thus, the rubber element is guided and resiliently supported on the carrier yoke at both ends.

  • Patent number: 5165159
Abstract: A process of assembling a wiper system, in which, in a transport position, the wiper arms are fixed onto the wiper shaft in a simply releasable manner and then the unit, pre-assembled in such a way, is delivered to the manufacturer of motor vehicles. There the wiper arms are swivelled from their transport position into their operational position and are permanently fixed onto the proper wiper shaft. Matching the wiper arms to the wiper system during the transport effectively prevents the manufacturer of motor vehicles from assembling them wrongly.

  • Patent number: 5046216
Abstract: This invention describes a windshield wiper system comprising a windshield wiper which may be linerarly driven to and fro by means of a driving member extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the windshield wiper. The driving member is guided in a frame from which projects a carrier for the windshield wiper. In the emergence area of the carrier from the frame there is provided a hollow-cylindrical seal of elastic material, which seal is diametrically penetrated by the carrier. The carrier and the driving member are thus protected against weather influences, because in the seal there is sort of an air cushion. If required the seal can due to its shape without any problem serve as a real heating hose and/or as a discharge hose for condensation water.
