  • Publication number: 20040213587
Abstract: An optical transceiver includes an opaque element having a concave reflective surface arranged in a path of each of an outgoing and an incoming light signal, the reflective surface configured to redirect the paths of the respective light signals. An optical detector is arranged facing the reflective surface. The optical detector is configured to detect a redirected incoming light signal from the reflective surface and to generate therefrom a receive signal proportional to the incoming light signal. An emitter is arranged facing the reflective surface. The emitter is configured to generate the outgoing light signal proportional to a transmit signal. A lens assembly is arranged between the reflective surface of the opaque element and both the optical detector and the emitter. The lens assembly is configured to couple the redirected incoming light signal to the optical detector and to couple the outgoing light signal to the reflective surface.

  • Publication number: 20040120802
Abstract: A back-to-back double-flow bi-directional thrust-balanced micro-impeller for use in optimized compression cycles of small volumetric flow rates is provided. The back-to-back micro-impeller is a component of a compressor capable of generating a pressure head suitable for maintaining the flow rate needed for dissipating heat, such as produced by an electronic component. The back-to-back micro-impeller provides a fluid path on both sides of the micro-impeller, imparting an equal momentum (or velocity) to the fluid. The left and right compressor sections provide a balancing of forces generated by high-pressure fluid against the two sides of the micro-impeller. This reduces vibrational forces and provides a balancing force on the shaft which reduces the thrust on the shaft in a direction away from the gas flow path. Also, the approximately equally distributed mass about the rotation axis X, provides for a balanced impeller which is desirable when operated at high rotation speeds.

  • Patent number: 6602404
Abstract: A process comprises separating a naphtha feed into a fraction comprising C7− hydrocarbons and a heavy C8+ fraction, separating the C8+ fraction into a light fraction comprising C8 and/or C8-C9 which then is reformed to produce gasoline and/or a desired distribution of aromatics.

  • Patent number: 6449479
Abstract: An apparatus for changing a mobile subscriber's feature profile in a telecommunications network comprises a Home Location Register having a means to change the profile and a memory for storing the profile, in electronic communication with a node. The node includes a means to recognize the subscriber change request, a means to validate the request, a means to determine whether the subscriber is currently using a mobile phone to which the profile is assigned, and a means to prevent changes to the profile, with the exception of the selected service feature if the subscriber is not currently using the phone to which the profile is assigned.

  • Patent number: 5569756
Abstract: Chemically modified cyclodextrins such as hydroxypropyl cyclodextrins are purified by treatment with an activated carbon made from either coal or coconut shells. The amount of activated carbon used is 50% to 300% by weight of modified cyclodextrin. The treatment removes organic impurities such as glycol introduced during the chemical modification process of the cyclodextrin. The treatment step is conducted by passing an aqueous solution of the unpurified modified cyclodextrin through a column packed with the activated carbon or by adding the activated carbon to a container of the unpruified modified cyclodextrin and mildly agitating the contents of the container to remove the impurities.

  • Patent number: 5508636
Abstract: The invention concerns a programmable integrated electronic system including an array of identical cells (53). Each cell includes functional components (530) capable, when they are correctly connected, of executing a given function, and programmable connecting means (a to h) for on the one hand connecting the functional components to each other and on the other hand connecting the cell to its neighbours. The present invention is characterised in that the system includes means of storing a first data item which defines the function of each of the cells in the array and in that each cell has means for extracting, from this first data item and its location the network, the programming word for its own function. In addition, means are provided for effecting the test of correct functioning of each cell and for reconfiguring the array where there are defective cells.
