  • Patent number: 6760758
Abstract: A system and method for coordinating access to a network for a plurality of user devices includes a server configured to establish a placeholder at the server, and control logic configured to retrieve and display a subset of information indicated by the placeholder. The server is connected to the network, and the placeholder indicates information available from the network and is established upon demand from a requesting user device connected to the network and in communication with the server. The control logic retrieves and displays the information, upon demand, at a receiving user device having a device type, with the subset based on the device type.

  • Patent number: 6731935
Abstract: A method and system for generating one of a first and second audible tone in a telephony system including a telephony device responsive to a first signal to generate the first audible tone and responsive to a second signal to generate the second audible tone includes receiving an information signal from the telephony system and a user initiated signal from the telephony device indicating a desire to initiate a call from the telephony device. A processor processes the information signal and the user initiated signal to determine at least one of billing rate information, available services, and service control procedures associated with the desired call and generate one of the first and second signals. A dial tone generator generates one of the first and second audible tones in response to one of the first and respectively.

  • Patent number: 6721412
Abstract: A method of coordinating an incoming call among a plurality of telephony devices includes generating an incoming call notification signal and a call status signal at each telephony device. In the presence of the incoming call, the incoming call notification signal is generated at each telephony device. Upon answering of the incoming call at an answering telephony device of the plurality of telephony devices, the call status signal is generated at each telephony device to inform a user of a status of the answered call.

  • Publication number: 20040045936
Abstract: A method for chemical milling of a gas turbine engine blisk having a hub and a plurality of blades made of metal for the purpose of changing the dimensional characteristics (i.e., chord and/or thickness) of one or more of these blades. At least one blade of the blisk is treated with a chemical etchant of the metal that the blade is made of for a period of time sufficient to change at least one of the chord and thickness of the blade(s). In a preferred aspect of this method, at least one of the blades of a rotationally imbalanced blisk is treated with the chemical etchant for a period of time sufficient to change the chord and/or thickness of these blades so that the blisk is rotationally balanced. In another preferred aspect of this method, an assessment of where and the degree to which the rotational imbalance exists in the blisk is made to determine which blades are to be treated with the chemical etchant and how those blades are to be treated to achieve rotational balance of the blisk.

  • Patent number: 6671790
Abstract: A method for optimizing logical track to physical track offset compensation of a data storage device includes steps of: associating each of a plurality of logical tracks to one of a plurality of physical tracks, selecting a set of sample tracks from the plurality of physical tracks, measuring an offset value for each logical track associated with one of the sample tracks, deriving, through an extrapolation technique, an offset compensation value for use with each of the sample tracks absent an association with one of the logical tracks, linking each measured offset compensation value and each estimated offset compensation value with its associated physical track, calculating, through an interpolation technique, an offset compensation value for use with each of the physical tracks absent an association with one of the sample tracks.

  • Publication number: 20030092452
Abstract: A method and system for simultaneously sharing wireless communications among multiple wireless handsets deployed in a wireless network having at least one cell site associated therewith includes a first and second wireless handset for transmitting a request for the same wireless communication. The wireless network then assigns a first wireless receive channel to the first wireless handset and the second wireless handset and simultaneously transmits the requested wireless communication to the first and second wireless handsets for receipt by the first wireless receive channel. If the requested wireless communication originates from a source handset, and the first and second handsets are located in direct communication proximity to the source handset, the source handset itself negotiates the common wireless receive channel for receiving the requested wireless communication.

  • Patent number: 6119113
Abstract: A method and system for efficiently searching a master database includes a memory device for storing a subset of the master database in an auxiliary data-base. A computer program receives an input signal corresponding to the search and processes the input signal with the auxiliary database to determine the presence or absence of qualifying search targets. Thus, target information is determined prior to actually accessing the database.

  • Patent number: 5967297
Abstract: An elastomeric switch is provided having self cleanings contacts. The switch includes a substrate and a switch actuator configured for reciprocating motion along an axis generally perpendicular to a surface of the substrate. A first switch contact, including a contact surface generally perpendicular to the actuator axis of motion is, carried by the switch actuator. A second switch contact is cantilevered from the surface of the substrate. Reciprocation of the actuator in a first direction toward the substrate acts to force the first contact against the distal end of the second contact. The two contacts are deflected together as result of further reciprocation of the actuator in the first direction. As the contacts are deflected, the distal end of the second contact is scraped across the contact surface of the first contact, thereby removing contaminants and other debris from the contact surface of the first contact.
