  • Publication number: 20160239727
Abstract: A wide area printer is capable of printing large images on non-typical surfaces such as pavement, grass, or soil. The printer is a wheeled device that is capable of multiple configurations including a plurality of drop nozzle arrays and a plurality of spray nozzle arrays. Each nozzle is independently addressable. Alternately, a group of nozzles may be addressed simultaneously. Each array of nozzles contains a carrier and a colorant. The colorant may be pre-mixed in the carrier, or may be mixed in-situ.

  • Publication number: 20160030153
Abstract: Various devices are described to provide filtering of flow from the aorta to the left carotid artery and the right carotid artery. The filters can be brought into a desired position through one or more peripheral arteries. A single filter device can provide the desired filtering or a plurality of devices can be used. In particular a single filter device can span between the brachiocephalic artery and the left carotid artery. These filter devices can be used effectively to capture emboli generated during procedures on the heart so that emboli do not travel to the patient's brain where the emboli can cause a stroke or other adverse event. In particular, these filters can be used during percutaneous procedures on the heart, such as endovascular heart valve replacement.

  • Publication number: 20160016406
Abstract: A micro-fluid ejection head has an ejection chip to expel fluid. It connects to a laminate construct. The construct has vertically configured wiring layers interspersed with non-conductive layers, such as carbon fiber layers. An upper of the wiring layers electrically connects to the ejection chip. The upper layer may also support a planar undersurface of the chip directly on a surface or in a recessed pocket. The two can connect with a die bond, such as one having silica or boron nitride. Fluid connections exist between ink feed slots of the chip and the laminate construct. A silicon tile or other material may also fluidly interconnect with the two. A plastic manifold optionally supports the laminate construct and may fluidly connect to it. The wiring layers of the laminate contemplate ground, power, and various bond pads. Other construct layers contemplate prepreg or core FR4 layers.

  • Publication number: 20150257774
Abstract: Systems for less invasive medical procedures comprise a filter device mounted on an integrated guiding structure and an aspiration catheter. These components can be used together or separately, and the system can be used with other medical devices that are designed for less invasive procedures, such as procedures in a patient's vasculature. The catheter can have a radiopaque band that is held in place under metal wire embedded within the polymer forming the tube of the catheter. In some embodiments, the aspiration catheter has a small diameter distal portion that can access into small diameter vessels in which the distal portion has a smaller average diameter than the remaining tube of the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20150239190
Abstract: An apparatus is used in the manufacture of a pneumatic tire. The apparatus includes a longitudinal axis and a plurality of arcuate segments defining an arc of a cylindrical surface such that the arcuate segments collectively define the cylindrical surface and the arcuate segments are supported for movement radially relative to the longitudinal axis for adjusting the circumference of the cylindrical surface. Each arcuate segment includes at least one of two side sections of each arcuate segment having a row of spaced fingers corresponding in a fitted arrangement with gaps of an adjacent arcuate segment such that, as the circumference is adjusted and the side sections of each segment hingedly move relative to an intermediate section about a corresponding pivot axis, the fingers move into and out of the gaps provided between the fingers of the adjacent arcuate segment. The fingers and gaps both are tapered at a taper angle relative to the circumferential direction of the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20150228183
Abstract: A method of monitoring the presence of personnel within a facility (S) and of monitoring the evacuation of the facility. A personnel registration system (2, 2a, 2b, 4) obtains data indicating the presence of a person. An interface computer (6) continuously receives data about people at the facility from a personnel server, and continuously supplies data to a monitoring server (9). A portable device (10a, 10b, c) is in data communication with the monitoring server and continuously receives data from the monitoring server. Upon evacuation of the facility, the portable device is taken to a mustering point (A, B, C) outside of the facility, and communicates (10) wirelessly with the monitoring server and continuously receives data from and sends data to the monitoring server. During evacuation of the facility the portable device logs the attendance of people at the mustering point and continuously communicates information to the monitoring server about people logged.

  • Patent number: 8904713
Abstract: A mechanism to be applied to a door jamb that is opposed by a door edge to strengthen the door jamb to survive forced entry efforts includes two elongated, narrow plates sized for mounting on a door jamb surface. One plate has a protruding ramp configured to serve as a strike plate for a latch bolt mounted in the door and a bolt hole near the ramp. The second plate has an inner overlay and a perpendicular outer flange, forming an L-shaped cross-section. The inner overlay has a bolt hole, and a slot in the outer flange near the overlay's bolt hole receives the ramp when the plates are nested. The bolt holes in the plates align, as do additional holes in the plates to receive screws to hold the plates mounted to the door jamb.

  • Patent number: 8777376
Abstract: A micro-fluid ejection head has multiple ejection chips joined adjacently to create a lengthy array across a media to-be-imaged. The chips have fluid firing elements arranged along skewed fluid vias to enable seamless stitching of fluid ejections. The firing elements are energized to eject fluid and ones are spaced according to colors or fluid types. Overlapping firing elements serve redundancy efforts during imaging for reliable print quality. Variable chips sizes and shapes are disclosed as are relationships between differently colored fluid vias. Skew angles range variously each with noted advantages. Singulating chips from larger wafers provide still further embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20140190952
Abstract: A composition for welding or brazing aluminum comprises silicon (Si) and magnesium (Mg) along with aluminum in an alloy suitable for use in welding and brazing. The Si content may vary between approximately 4.7 and 10.9 wt %, and the Mg content may vary between approximately 0.20 wt % and 0.50 wt %. The alloy is well suited for operations in which little or no dilution from the base metal affects the Si and/or Mg content of the filler metal. The Si content promotes fluidity and avoids stress concentrations and cracking The Mg content provides enhanced strength. Resulting joints may have a strength at least equal to that of the base metal with little or no dilution (e.g., draw of Mg). The joints may be both heat treated and artificially aged or naturally aged.

  • Patent number: 8758325
Abstract: Thrombectomy catheters are presented that have curved tip portions. A suction lumen extends from at or near the proximal end of the catheter to a suction port at or near the tip portion of the catheter. The curves of the thrombectomy catheter can be selected to place a suction port at or near a vessel wall for the more effective removal of thrombus resulting from directing the suction in the direction of the thrombus. In some embodiments, the tip portion of the catheter can be transitioned from a first configuration for delivery of the catheter into the vessel to a second more curved configuration with a desired design for application of suction. The catheter can be moved in a circumferential and/or lateral direction to cover selected portions of the inner vessel wall. In some embodiments, a partially occlusive structure can be used to reduce and/or redirect flow within the vessel to improve performance of the thrombectomy.
