  • Publication number: 20070103594
Abstract: A system and system for performing adaptive recursive noise reduction with still pixel detection on a video stream is presented. After processing a field pixels that were modified are stored in the field so that processing of later fields uses the modified pixels. Furthermore, the system uses novel still pixel detection routines that include multiple thresholds and multiple windows of pixels so that noise reduction is only performed on still pixels.

  • Publication number: 20040233336
Abstract: A method and system for performing still pixel detection is presented. In accordance with the present invention, still pixel detection can use multiple thresholds and multiple windows of pixels. In a particular embodiment of the present invention, a still pixel detection test is performed using a first window. If the first window test determines the pixel is a still pixel then the pixel is classified as a still pixel. If the first window test determines the pixel is not a still pixel, a still pixel detection test is performed using a second window. If the second window test determines the pixel is a still pixel then the pixel is classified as a still pixel. Otherwise, the pixel is not classified as a still pixel. Some embodiment of the present invention the still pixel tests use multiple thresholds to determine if a pixel is a still pixel.

  • Patent number: 6735081
Abstract: A reconfigurable apparatus for thermal management of an electronics module is described. The apparatus includes a pair of fans generating airflow along respective fan axes. The apparatus also includes a beat sink having one portion disposed in the airflow of the fans and another portion adapted for thermal coupling with the electronics module. The airflows from the fans are in the same direction when the apparatus is arranged in a front-to-back airflow configuration and the airflows are in opposite directions when the apparatus is arranged in a front-to-front airflow configuration. A removable flow director is included in the apparatus when the apparatus is in the front-to-front airflow configuration to direct the airflow from the first fan towards the second fan.

  • Publication number: 20040087852
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for defining a three-dimensional coordinate system in relation to an anatomical structure (64) for use with computer-assisted surgical systems. At least three landmarks (66, 68, 70) associated with the anatomical structure (64) are identified. Landmarks are identified using a digitization device (96) and their location refined using at least one single calibrated X-ray image. Using the landmarks (66, 68, 70), first and second planes are defined, the second plane being orthogonal to the first plane. These planes define a coordinate system, which can be used to ascertain the position trajectory of any object (80) with respect to the anatomical structure. Exposure to imaging radiation and additional surgical procedure is minimized.

  • Publication number: 20030115320
Abstract: An apparatus and method for tuning voice playback ratio (pbr) to optimize call quality in a packet voice communications system, while taking into account network conditions. The pbr is the ratio of resampling rate to the original sampling rate. The invention also optimizes jitter buffer length (jb0) for call quality. Between bursts of speech, the preferred embodiment of the invention optimizes call quality by varying the initial jb0 and the pbr to achieve the best R-factor (R). R is an estimate of customer satisfaction with the quality of a voice call in real time. During bursts of speech, the value of jb0 is fixed at the beginning of the BOS and the pbr is varied to achieve the best R. The method can be implemented during a burst of speech and between bursts of speech whenever the network conditions change.

  • Patent number: 6200828
Abstract: An IC package architecture and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. By this packaging method, a molded compound is first formed, which covers the entire packaging area of the leadframe but leaving a window to expose the area where the chip is to be mounted. After the chip is mounted and wire bonded, a dispensed compound is formed the window to enclose the chip therein. The dispensing material can be variably selected by the manufacturer in accordance with actual application requirements. For instance, the dispensing material can be either a transparent material to allow the enclosed chip to be transparent to the outside, or a colored material for some prespecified identification purpose of the IC package. Moreover, the packaging method can be utilized on current types of IC packages and can be realized by using existing equipment and processes in a cost-effective manner without having to invest on new additional ones.

  • Patent number: 6133067
Abstract: An architecture for a dual-chip IC package and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The dual-chip IC package allows two chips to be mounted on the same leadframe in the same package. The two chips can be either the same type of a semiconductor device or two different types of semiconductor devices with different functions such as a memory chip and a logic control chip. The architecture allows a simplified manufacturing process and an increased good yield rate for the two IC chips that are to be enclosed in the dual-chip IC package.
