  • Publication number: 20190152581
Abstract: An apparatus and method for an actuator system to modify an adaptive flap of an aircraft wing. The system may include a drive rod extending from a nose portion of the flap to an interior thereof. A bell crank may be attached to the interior and configured to receive an end of the drive rod. A pivot disposed opposite of the drive rod may couple the bell crank to a mount fixed to a lower surface of a trailing edge portion of the flap. A skin overlap may be configured to allow the lower surface of the trailing edge portion to slide adjacent to a lower surface of a remaining portion of the flap under the action of the drive rod. A bumper may be disposed within the aircraft wing and configured to exert a continuous force on the drive rod when the flap is moved to a retracted state.

  • Publication number: 20190106965
Abstract: A risk/reliability assessment tool for ultra-deepwater well control equipment used for offshore drilling operations is disclosed. Embodiments take into consideration all of the processes required for competent risk/reliability assessment for loss mitigation. In an exemplary embodiment, the system provides a simulation tool which evaluates equipment components and simulates the various failure modes for each component and the effect on the other components in the equipment being evaluated.

  • Publication number: 20180349010
Abstract: A user configurable tile allows the user to configure a set of threshold values for a corresponding metric. When the metric is calculated by the system, it is compared against the threshold values to determine what range the calculated metric resides in. A corresponding tile is displayed, with a visual indicator that is indicative of the range that the corresponding metric resides in, relative to the one or more threshold values.

  • Patent number: 9927578
Abstract: A fiber optic rotary connector providing communication between a first fiber optical bundle and a second fiber optical bundle rotating relative to said first bundle. The fiber optic rotary connector includes a K-mirror comprised of at least three mirror components and a set of gears adapted to rotate said K-mirror at a rotation rate equal to one half of the second bundle rotation rate. In a preferred embodiment the set of gears is a set of magnetic gears. And in another preferred embodiment the set of gears is a set of mechanical gears. Normally the first fiber optic bundle is stationary, but it may be rotating at a slower rate than the second bundle. In preferred embodiments the K mirror is comprised of three flat mirrors and two of the flat mirrors are positioned at about 30 degrees relative to the third flat mirror.

  • Patent number: 9861037
Abstract: A mechanical harvester for harvesting a produce with a stem/core planted in a field includes a chassis, and a cutting device and a transport assembly connected to the chassis. The cutting device is configured to cut the stem/core of the produce. The transport assembly is configured to transport the produce using a movable first belt with a first set of produce grippers and a movable second belt with a second set of produce grippers. When the produce is held between the first set and second set of produce grippers, a portion of the first set of produce grippers opposes a portion of the second set of produce grippers. The opposing produce grippers are configured to compress and exert a force on the produce to hold the produce between the movable first and second belts.
