Patent number: 9870498Abstract: A system and method for calibrating a barcode scanning tunnel comprises providing a scanning tunnel having a moveable surface, a camera, and a dimensioning device. Orientations of the dimensioning device and camera are estimated. Instances of a calibration object on the moveable surface are acquired by the dimensioning device and the camera, and a relationship is defined between the two devices. A calibration object is moved along the moveable surface through the devices' fields of view, controlling the camera's focal distance according to the relationship, so that the dimensioning device and the camera acquire instances of the calibration object, and the relationship is revised.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2017Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: DATALOGIC USA, INC.Inventors: Edward Reynolds, Edward Douglas Hatton, Mehul Patel

Patent number: 9545581Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining a support platform and a payload mountable thereon in near neutral equilibrium relative to a base structure. The support platform is spaced from the base structure by a plurality of actuators which provide the support platform with six degrees of freedom relative to the base structure about longitudinal, lateral and vertical axes. A substantially upright strut is mountable between the base structure and support platform for supporting the weight of the support platform and payload. First and second balance assemblies counteract forces imparted on the strut when the payload is moved or pivoted longitudinally and/or laterally. The forces counteracted by the first balance assembly and the second balance assembly reduce the load imparted on the actuators by the payload.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2014Date of Patent: January 17, 2017Assignee: SEQUILIBRER PTY LTD.Inventors: Kenneth Edward Douglas, Stephen Graham Hoinville

Publication number: 20150120247Abstract: A diagnostic test is conducted by operating an engine-generator set at a plurality of reduced speeds. At each of those speeds, operating parameters of the engine are sensed and analyzed to detect an unsatisfactory operating condition. For example, such operating parameters may include speed of the engine-generator set, engine oil pressure and level, engine temperature, coolant level, and battery voltage. When a transition in engine speed occurs, a throttle test also may be conducted to measure how quickly and smoothly the engine reaches the new speed. After the engine reaches the normal operating speed, the generator is activated to produce electricity. One or more characteristic of that electricity, such as voltage, current and frequency, are sensed and evaluated to detect an unsatisfactory operating condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2015Publication date: April 30, 2015Inventors: Eric D. Albsmeier, Kenneth R. Bornemann, Harrison Chirkdo Chiu, Zane Eaton, Anthony James Hackbarth, Richard Allen Mauk, Jeffrey John Neis, Edward Douglas Brey

Patent number: 8942854Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a method of identifying electrical devices in a power management system. The method includes accessing a controller using a server that includes identifiers of the electrical devices. The controller is electrically connected (directly or indirectly) to the electrical devices. The method further includes exchanging data between the server and the controller to correlate the identifiers with the electrical devices. The potential identifiers that may be used to correlate the identifiers with the electrical devices may be stored in an identifier database on the server. In some embodiments, the identifiers of the electrical devices may also be stored in an identifier database on the controller.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2011Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Assignee: Kohler Co.Inventors: Richard A. Patent number: 8550888Abstract: An HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) damper includes a series of pivotal damper blades that are opened by an air pressure differential across opposite sides of the damper. In some embodiments, a fan discharging against the damper blades provides the necessary air pressure to open the damper. To control how far the damper opens, an actuator moves a variable position abutment that obstructs the damper blades to limit how far they can pivot in the open direction. The position of the abutment is infinitely adjustable to provide the damper with infinite adjustment over a range of open positions. In some embodiments, the abutment applies a unidirectional torque to the damper blades regardless of whether the damper is opening or closing.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2009Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Trane International Inc.Inventors: Edward Douglas Hildreth, Jr., Robert F. Schult, Goutam Duvvada, Doyle R. Goodman, Gary A. Huss, Mark W. Stephans
