    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to implantable encapsulation devices for housing a biological moiety or a therapeutic device that contains a biological moiety. Particularly, aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an implantable apparatus that includes a distal end, a proximal end, a manifold including at least one access port positioned either at the distal end or the proximal end, and a plurality of containment tubes affixed to the manifold and in fluid communication with the at least one access port. Additionally, the encapsulation device may contain a flush port and a tube that are fluidly connected to the manifold. The containment tubes may contain therein a biological moiety (e.g., cells) or a therapeutic device (e.g. a cell encapsulation member).

    Abstract: Various embodiments provide a device comprising a balloon assembly including a balloon, a film template, and a rigid element. The film template may have a fixed upper distension limit and may include at least one aperture. The rigid element may lay substantially flush with an outer surface of the balloon at a first inflated state of the balloon. The first upper distension limit of the balloon may be greater than the fixed upper distension limit of the film template and the balloon may outwardly protrude through the at least one aperture at a second inflated state. The rigid element may be extended in a radial direction away from the outer surface of the balloon as the balloon outwardly protrudes through the at least one aperture relative to the outer surface of the film template.

    Abstract: Implantable grafts, particularly for arteriovenous access that may be punctured by an object such as a needle and, following removal of the object, will reseal the resulting hole to the extent of reducing fluid leakage through the graft at the puncture site to an amount less than would be typical for a conventional graft. More particularly, the grafts comprise three layers; an inner layer of implantable graft material such as ePTFE, a middle layer of self sealing elastomeric material such as silicone, and an outer layer of implantable graft material such as ePTFE. Following manufacture, the tubular form of the three-layer graft is everted to put substantially the entire wall thickness of the elastomeric material layer under circumferential compression.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to medical devices such as syringes, auto-injectors, and pens that inhibit oxygen permeation into the fluid chamber. The medical device includes a lubricant-free (e.g., silicone) or a siliconized barrel having an interior surface defining a fluid chamber, an elastomeric stopper, and a plunger rod. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the interior surface of the barrel is reduced to increase the interference fit between the stopper and the barrel. In another embodiment, the stopper may include a plurality of ribs and a valley between each pair of ribs may include a ring member provided in each of the valleys. The ring member includes an oxygen-absorbing, an oxygen-adsorbing material, or both, to bind any oxygen that permeates into the syringe, auto-injector, or pen. In yet another embodiment, the stopper may include a barrier coating including an oxygen barrier material to inhibit or prevent oxygen permeation.

    Abstract: The invention relates to medical devices and methods of using them. The devices are prostheses which can be percutaneously deliverable with (or on) an endovascular catheter or via other surgical or other techniques and then expanded. The prostheses are configured to have a lattice resistant to dilation and creep, which is defined by a plurality of openings. The prosthesis may also optionally have a stent disposed proximal to the lattice. In exemplary embodiments, the fluoropolymer is expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. The composite materials exhibit high elongation while substantially retaining the strength properties of the fluoropolymer membrane. In at least one embodiment, the lattice is made of a composite material that includes a least one fluoropolymer membrane including serpentine fibrils and an elastomer. A lattice including a generally tubular member formed of a composite material including a least one fluoropolymer membrane containing serpentine fibrils and an elastomer is also provided.

The thin covering may be integral with the catheter shaft, or may be a separate component that covers only the portion of the catheter shaft immediately adjacent the outer portion of the guidewire lumen, or may be a thin tubular construct that surrounds the entire catheter shaft. The introducer is configured to force the retrieval device down over the endoluminal device reducing the french size of the spent endoluminal device upon extraction.
