  • Patent number: 6474171
Abstract: A vacuum gauge of the cold cathode type has a gauge head which includes a cathode discharge cell and an anode a portion of which is located within the cathode discharge cell. An electrically operated ignition device is located adjacent the cathode discharge cell which ignition device is protected from being operated at high pressure by an auxiliary pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 6187542
Abstract: A method of predicting the clinical outcome of patients suffering from congestive heart failure by identifying patients with a mutant allele of the AMPD1 gene is provided. Methods for increasing survival time in patients suffering from congestive heart failure by administering compositions which inhibit AMPD1 activity are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5989312
Abstract: A membrane system controller and control method for maximizing retentate product output and incorporating compressor load detection apparatus and process parameter instrumentation for feeding essential monitoring information to a control unit. Product output maximization is accomplished by increasing the membrane operating temperature during periods when compressor capacity is underutilized.

  • Patent number: 5905410
Abstract: A lock circuit for indicating a locked/unlocked condition of phased lock loops circuits, which uses a reference clock signal input to a good-cycle counter and to a bad-cycle counter to signal a set/reset latch to output a signal indicating whether or not the phase of the output signal and input clock are in phase. Phase detector inputs are XOR gated to produce a pulse when the phase locked output clock is in a bad cycle indicated by the phase locked output clock not being in-phase with its input clock. Pulses on the XOR gate output on a bad cycle feed a single cycle counter reset circuit. The single cycle counter reset circuit on every cycle resets one of the bad and good counters based on its detection of a bad cycle pulse from the XOR gate. The good-cycle counter's output is to the SET input of the set/reset latch, and the bad-cycle counter's output is to the RESET input of the set/reset latch . We enable specific cycling of both the good and bad counters.

  • Patent number: 5879003
Abstract: A sheet feed apparatus for an imaging device. The apparatus includes a drive roller, plurality of sheets of photosensitive material, a photographically inert liner having upper and lower surfaces and a container for storing the sheets of photosensitive material. Proper feeding of the sheets of material and a stable location of the liner are ensured by appropriate coefficients of friction between the respective components. The top surface (19b) of the liner (19) to the bottom surface (18B) of the sheets (18) has a first coefficient of friction and the bottom of one sheet (18) to the top of another sheet (18) has a second coefficient of friction, the second coefficient friction being less than the first coefficient of friction, whereby multiple feeds of the sheets are reduced.

  • Patent number: 5765091
Abstract: A container and liner combination includes an interlock feature. Multiple sheets of photosensitive material are placed on the liner. The container has a base in which the liner is positioned. The base has a interlock feature and the liner has a mating interlock feature. The interlock feature prevents movement of the liner in the feed direction as well as in a direction opposite the feed direction.

  • Patent number: 4974170
Abstract: A kiosk is placed on a sidewalk and has stored in an electronic memory the locations of businesses, historical sites, or the like within a predetermined distance of the kiosk. In addition, a map of the area surrounding the kiosk is stored. The kiosk has an input panel having a plurality of input keys, each key corresponding to a characteristic of the subscribers stored in the electronic memory. A user activates the apparatus by pressing one of the input keys. This causes an electronic element to search the subscribers to determine the group of subscribers having that characteristic. Then, a map is generated, and the location of the selected group of subscribers are overlaid onto the map. The map with the group of subscribers thereon is then printed and dispensed to the user.
