  • Publication number: 20240099597
Abstract: A method is directed to continuously, non-invasively, and directly measuring blood pressure, and includes providing a calibrated measurement device having a blood-flow control balloon and a sensor array. The method further includes placing the sensor array in a non-invasive manner over the surface of a patch of skin connected to an artery by adjoining soft tissues and inflating the blood-flow control balloon with a controlled amount of pressure. In response to the inflating of the blood-flow control balloon, changes in the artery geometry and forces are detected, via the sensor array, during a heartbeat cycle. The changes correspond to spatio-temporal signals from the artery or in the adjoining soft tissues. The spatio-temporal signals are measured and processed, via a controller, to determine blood-pressure parameters.

  • Publication number: 20230129424
Abstract: A small to mid-scale liquefied natural gas production system and method is provided. The disclosed liquefied natural gas production system employs at least one heat exchanger, three turbine/expanders and at least three refrigerant compression stages. The expansion ratio of one turbine/expander is appreciably lower than the expansion ratio of the other turbine/expanders such that the temperature of the exhaust stream from the turbine/expander with the lower expansion ratio is above the critical point temperature of the compressed natural gas containing feed stream but colder than about ?15° C. The present system and method may be configured using either a single nitrogen-based expansion refrigerant circuit or two separate refrigerant circuits wherein the turbine/expander with the lowest expansion ratio is contained within a separate refrigeration circuit from the other two turbine/expanders with the higher expansion ratios.

  • Patent number: 11210329
Abstract: Methods and systems for estimating recall while screening an ordered list of bibliographic references are provided. According to one embodiment, a method includes: sorting a list of bibliographic references according to a sorting algorithm to produce a first list in order from most to least relevant; selecting, from the list, the most relevant reference, and displaying, to a human screener, information associated with the selected reference; and receiving the screener's judgment of the relevance of the selected reference. If sufficiently relevant, the selected reference is moved from the first list to a second list. The received indication is used to re-sort the remaining references in the first list. A statistical model is used to estimate the number of relevant references remaining. That estimate is displayed to the screener. The process ends when the screener determines, based on the displayed estimate, that a sufficient number of relevant references has been found.

  • Publication number: 20200298896
Abstract: A system of a leading locomotive with a reduced complement of onboard Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment leveraging a full complement of PTC equipment in a trailing locomotive, while operating in a PTC territory. The system can be applied to a push-pull passenger train, wherein the cab car has the reduced complement of onboard PTC equipment and the locomotive has the full complement, whereby the train is operable in both directions in a PTC territory. The system can also serve as an expedient repair of a leading locomotive with failed onboard PTC equipment by leveraging the functional PTC equipment in another locomotive in the consist. The same leveraging principle can allow a PTC-equipped locomotive to operate in a non-interoperable PTC territory. Considerable cost savings are achieved compared to the prior art practice of fully equipping all locomotives and cab cars with a full PTC installation.
