  • Patent number: 7606168
Abstract: Electronic data files are broadly characterized as “messages” and a social network is constructed by analyzing one or more messages exchanged between various entities. Additionally, messages from structured and/or unstructured data stores are correlated using one or more common/related data elements from two or more messages. Further, the social network and the concepts contained in the exchanged messages (i.e. semantic network) can be visualized using a series of multi-aspect viewing tools. Finally, in conjunction with the social network and the semantic network, a message network based on the chronological relationship of the messages (event network) can be constructed to analyze and visualize how the messages relate to each other in a time-based reference model. Once visualized, the relationship of the concepts contained in the messages as well as the relationship between the entities and the timing involved in the exchange of messages can be analyzed for desired information.

  • Publication number: 20080278485
Abstract: A system and method for providing a dynamic user interface for a dense three-dimensional scene with a navigation assistance panel is presented. Clusters of semantically scored documents are placed in a three-dimensional scene and are arranged as a cluster spine. Each cluster spine is projected into a two-dimensional display. Controls operating on the cluster spines in the display are presented in a user interface. Compasses framing the cluster spines within the display are provided. A label to identify one concept in one or more of the cluster spines appearing within at least one of the compasses is generated. A plurality of slots in the display positioned circumferentially around the compasses are defined. Each label is assigned to the slot outside of the compass for the cluster spine having a closest angularity to the slot. A perspective-altered rendition of the two-dimensional display is provided by a navigation assistant panel.

  • Publication number: 20080201655
Abstract: A system and method for providing a dynamic user interface including a plurality of logical layers is presented. A user interface is provided via a heads-up display generator. Clusters including one or more concepts arranged proximal to each other such cluster to form a cluster spine is provided in a data layer. Controls to operate on a view of the cluster spines are provided in a control layer. Information about the clusters is provided in a concepts layer. A compass logically framing the cluster spines is provided in a heads-up display layer. A label to identify one such concept in one or more of the cluster spines appearing within the compass is generated. A plurality of slots positioned circumferentially around the compass is defined. Each label is assigned to the slot outside of the compass for the cluster spine having a closest angularity to the slot.

  • Patent number: 7404151
Abstract: A system and method for providing a dynamic user interface for a dense three-dimensional scene is presented. Clusters are placed in a three-dimensional scene arranged proximal to each other such cluster to form a cluster spine. Each cluster includes one or more concepts. Each cluster spine is projected into a two-dimensional display relative to a stationary perspective as a hierarchical view of the cluster spines in the display. Folder controls operating on the hierarchical view are presented. The hierarchical view includes an indicator representing each cluster spine and a line indicating the cluster spine interrelationships relative to other cluster spines. A label is generated to identify one such concept included in each cluster spine in the hierarchical view.

  • Patent number: 7150425
Abstract: A reel assembly for storing a hose, an electrical cord, or other items. The reel assembly includes a base, a spool rotatably mounted to the base, and a guide arm adjustably mounted to the base for guiding the direction in which a hose, for example, is extended from the reel and for guiding the hose onto the reel as the hose is wound upon the reel. A spring is operably connected between the spool and the base to bias the spool in a rotational direction in which the hose is wound onto the spool, thereby automatically retracting the hose after use. A pawl mechanism is mounted to the guide arm, and cooperates with a pair of ratchet teeth sets on the spool to selectively lock the spool against rotation in a hose-winding direction, thereby maintaining the hose in a desired extended position for use. The relative orientation of the ratchet teeth sets and the pawl mechanism, which is mounted to the guide arm, prevents “latch-out” when the hose is disposed in its fully extended position.

  • Patent number: 5495995
Abstract: A reel assembly for carrying a flexible elongate member. The reel assembly includes a reel for connection to one end of the elongate member, a frame rotatably supporting the reel, an electric motor supported by the frame and rotatably driving the reel in a direction to retract the elongate member, and at least one sensor for sensing rotational movement of the reel. A control device interconnecting the sensor and the motor determines when the reel is rotated a first predetermined amount in a payout direction opposite the retraction direction, and, in response thereto, actuates the motor to drive the reel in the retraction direction through sufficient rotation to be capable of completely rewinding the elongate member.

  • Patent number: 5091619
Abstract: An apparatus for passing an electrical current through an electromagnetic coil to perform a resistance bonding operation is disclosed. The apparatus includes a pair of pistons which are selectively moved to clamp the leads of the coil to respective electrical terminals. The terminals are selectively connected through a switch to a source of electrical power to perform the resistance bonding operation. A pivotable cover is provided for covering the entire apparatus during the resistance bonding operation. When the cover is closed by an operator, a logic controller automatically actuates the pistons to clamp the leads of the coil to the terminals. Additional limit switches sense when the pistons have been so moved and, in response thereto, automatically close the switch to connect the electrical power supply to the terminals, thereby commencing the resistance bonding operation.
