  • Patent number: 10349697
Abstract: A system for protecting a head of a wearer from an impact force includes a helmet defining an interior space for housing the head and at least one damper coupled to the helmet at a first end and extending therefrom along a longitudinal axis to a second end. The damper includes of a plurality compressible energy damper elements concentrically arranged about the longitudinal axis. The plurality of compressible energy damper elements includes an outer damper element and an inner damper element. The outer damper element surrounds the inner damper element and extends to the second end of the damper. The outer damper element has a first uncompressed length and the inner element has a second uncompressed length that is different from the first uncompressed length. Alternatively, the plurality of compressible damper elements are concentrically arranged and are arranged end to end in series.

  • Publication number: 20190154068
Abstract: An example toggle bolt catch for use with a toggle bolt is described. The toggle bolt catch includes a collar eyelet and a toggle catch. The collar eyelet includes a cylindrical ring having a central opening to allow the toggle of a toggle bolt to pass through and a flange that extends radially outward from the cylindrical ring. The toggle catch includes a minor arc stem that extends away from a back of the cylindrical ring. In use, the toggle bolt catch is inserted through a hole formed in drywall, for example, with the minor arc stem extending in the open space behind the drywall. When the bolt of the toggle bolt is rotated, the toggle can rotate only until it contacts the minor arc stem, after which further rotation of the bolt will draw the toggle of the toggle bolt toward the bolt without additional rotation of the toggle.

  • Publication number: 20150302766
Abstract: A recovery system and method which enables healthcare providers to provide customized interactive on-demand exercise sessions to their patients for the recovery of their patients suffering from injuries. The recovery system and method assists each patient in that patient's recovery by electronically providing the patient a customized series of individualized dynamically created exercise sessions. Each exercise session provides the patient exercises for the patient's recovery based on that patient's specific injury and the feedback provided by the patient during and after each previous exercise session.

  • Publication number: 20150205891
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a design for a system (2) that comprises a plurality of subsystems (4, 6) is provided. Criteria to be satisfied by the system (2) are identified. For each subsystem (4, 6), further criteria that are to be satisfied by that subsystem (4, 6) are determined and a parametric model (8, 16) is then determined. These comprise inputs (10, 18) and outputs (14, 22) that are dependent on the inputs (10, 18). A systems engineering model (100) comprising, as inputs, parametric model inputs (10, 18) is then determined. System model outputs (28) are dependent on the system model inputs. Groups consisting of some of the system model inputs are formed and an optimisation process is performed, for each group, to determine inputs that optimise the system model outputs (28). A set of inputs that optimise the system model outputs (28) provides a design for the system.

  • Patent number: 8056940
Abstract: A pipe connector comprises a tubular pin member having a frustoconical outer surface and a tubular box member having a frustoconical inner surface corresponding to the outer surface of the pin member and which overlies the frustoconical surface of the pin member when the members are fully engaged. The members are provided with inter-engageable annular projections and grooves on the said peripheral surfaces for axially locking the members together when they are fully engaged together. The projections and grooves are spaced apart along the surfaces. The inner tubular surface of the pin member and an outer tubular surface of the box member each include at least one of a recess and/or a protrusion/radially enlarged section which reduces and/or increases the thickness of the tubular wall along the length of the associated member so as to balance the displacement of the members at different points along the length thereof under injection pressure.
