  • Publication number: 20060106850
Abstract: A location beacon database and server, method of building location beacon database, and location based service using same. Wi-Fi access points are located in a target geographical area to build a reference database of locations of Wi-Fi access points. At least one vehicle is deployed including at least one scanning device having a GPS device and a Wi-Fi radio device and including a Wi-Fi antenna system. The target area is traversed in a programmatic route to avoid arterial bias. The programmatic route includes substantially all drivable streets in the target geographical area and solves an Eulerian cycle problem of a graph represented by said drivable streets. While traversing the target area, periodically receive the GPS coordinates of the GPS device.

  • Patent number: 6807195
Abstract: The generation and upstream transmission of voice packets in an HFC network is controlled by including a synchronization circuit in the broadband terminal interface unit. The synchronization circuit is used to generate the timing signals for the codec, DSP and host microprocessor so that as the host microprocessor receives an upstream grant, the remaining components will assemble and forward the packets in synchronization with the grant.

  • Patent number: 6657997
Abstract: The transport of ABCD bits in a digital packet network is facilitated by the inclusion of the ABCD bits into the RTP header of the digital packets. The ABCD bits are first placed in the unused bits of the RTP header. Redundancy of the previous ABCD bits, when applicable, is achieved by restricting the size of fields in the header to reserve space for redundant ABCD bits. The ABCD bits are placed in the reserved portions of restricted header fields.

  • Publication number: 20030180155
Abstract: A reciprocating gas compressor in which a piston (3) reciprocates within a compression chamber (1) in order to compress gas. Water is injected through nozzle (6, 7) into the compression chamber to cool the gas during compression. A source of pressurised liquid (13) is arranged to accelerate liquid through the nozzle (6, 7). At least one duct (14, 17, 19) connects the pressurised source (13) to the nozzles (6, 7). The dimensions of the duct (14, 17, 19) are sized to define the inertia of the liquid to control the acceleration of the mass flow through the nozzles during compression such that the cooling capacity of the liquid in the compression chamber increases as the pressure therein approaches its final value.

  • Patent number: 6525603
Abstract: A feedforward amplifier is linearized by adapting off the detection of an applied modulation source. The feedforward amplifier has two loops: a first loop and a second loop. Modulators in the two loops are adjusted by controllers that adapt in response to detection of the modulation source injected into the first loop.

  • Publication number: 20020087583
Abstract: An internet-based system that facilitates the interaction between a store, its distributor, and consumers is disclosed. The system is centered around a distributor website that is designed to interact with both the stores it supplies and with the consumers who shop in those stores. Stores interact with the distributor's website by first using the site to create their own personalized website using a website “wizard.” This wizard program allows stores autonomy in creating their websites and choosing which of the distributor's products they wish to sell on line, but also makes it feasible for the distributor to update all of the created websites with pertinent information such as product pricing. The stores may also use the disclosed system to purchase products from the distributor to stock their stores. Consumers may interact with the distributor's website by utilizing a store locator to locate a store in their vicinity.

  • Publication number: 20010024439
Abstract: A telecommunications gateway allows packets to be sent over a TDM system and allows TDM traffic to be sent over a packet switched network. The gateway is a universal port that includes a plurality of Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) that are controlled by software. The controlling software determines what single function the DSP will perform over multiple channels. Each DSP handles multiple channels, however, each DSP is restricted such that all of its multiple channels are permitted to handle the telecommunications traffic according to one signaling protocol.

  • Patent number: 4654307
Abstract: A bacterium which comprises chromosomal DNA which lacks a DNA sequence to code for a tRNA for an amino acid and which bacterium further comprises a plasmid which has a DNA sequence which does effectively code for said tRNA for said amino acid. The invention further includes such a bacterium wherein the DNA sequence for the tRNA for the amino acid is located in a ribosomal RNA operon preferably between a ribosomal RNA promoter and a ribosomal RNA promoter termination sequence within the plasmid.
