  • Patent number: 9552229
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer implemented method for scheduling a new task. The method comprises: receiving task data in respect of the new task, the task data comprising at least information enabling the new task to be uniquely identified and a target runtime for the new task; recording the received task data in a data structure and determining if a new job needs to be registered with an underlying job scheduler.

  • Publication number: 20160095520
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for performing photoacoustic tomography with respect to a sample that receives a pulse of excitation electromagnetic radiation and generates an acoustic field in response to said pulse. One embodiment provides an apparatus comprising an acoustically sensitive surface, wherein the acoustic field generated in response to said pulse is incident upon said acoustically sensitive surface to form a signal. The apparatus further comprises a source for directing an interrogation beam of electromagnetic radiation onto said acoustically sensitive surface so as to be modulated by the signal; means for applying a sensitivity pattern to the interrogation beam; and a read-out system for receiving the interrogation beam from the acoustically sensitive surface and for determining a value representing a spatial integral of the signal across the acoustically sensitive surface, wherein said spatial integral is weighted by the applied sensitivity pattern.

  • Publication number: 20130076147
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are provided for multiple battery power path management. The device may include a first battery port configured to couple to a first battery; a second battery port configured to couple to a second battery; an output voltage port configured to couple to a device to be powered; a battery selection port configured to couple to the device to be powered; a control circuit configured to select one of the first battery and the second battery as a power source battery, the selection based on a signal received at the battery selection port; and a first switch configured to selectively couple the first battery port or the second battery port to the output voltage port, the selective coupling based on a first switching signal generated by the control circuit in response to the selection of the power source battery.

  • Publication number: 20100130263
Abstract: A system and method for providing power to a mobile device from two power sources. According to embodiments described herein, a mobile device, such as a cell phone, may include a main battery and an auxiliary battery. The mobile device includes a power management circuit that utilizes a charge-control circuit and a power-selection circuit for implementing a power-management schema. The charge-control circuit may exclusively couple the main battery or the auxiliary battery to an external power source for charging. The power-selection circuit may exclusively couple the main battery or the auxiliary battery for providing power to the mobile device. The system further includes a controller that controls the coupling of the main battery and the auxiliary battery such that if the main battery falls below a sufficient voltage level, the auxiliary battery may be immediately engaged without interruption of the operation of the mobile device.
