    Abstract: A tool head is provided for a hydraulically actuatable tool. The tool head has an essentially C-shaped head body with two C-legs, and a connecting web connecting the C-legs. Each C-leg has a tool carrier for receiving a tool part. The second tool carrier is mounted to be displaceable to the first tool carrier from a first starting position remote from the first tool carrier while traversing a device jaw of the C-shaped head body into a final working position adjacent to the first tool carrier. The connecting web has several through openings lying one behind the other along the longitudinal axis and are separated by a material bracing. The through openings follow an arched shape of the connecting web, and not a line parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tool head.

In order to reduce a cutting gap between blade edges, the end facing the cutting plane defines a first distance and that the first distance and/or a second distance are chosen such that an intersecting point lies in front of a line of action of the cutting force referred to a clockwise direction.

A hydraulic piston movable in a hydraulic cylinder applies a piston force, depending on a hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic cylinder. A higher pressing force is in effect when a greater opening width of the pivoting jaw is provided and when the maximum piston force is reached. When any opening width that is smaller than the greater opening width is provided, a pressing force lower than the higher pressing force is in effect when the maximum piston force is reached.

    Abstract: A method for operating a hydraulically actuated work tool having a work jaw is provided. Once an increase in force applied as a result of a hydraulic pressure has been reached, the work process does not require any further force or a maximum permissible hydraulic pressure has been reached. The hydraulic pressure is applied by a pump piston that travels through a pump path and a return path in each pump cycle. The hydraulic pressure is recorded over a time for a change from a pressure increase range to a pressure-maintaining range corresponding substantially to a specific pressure value from the pump path into the return path. At the end of a pump cycle, if the reached pressure-maintaining range exceeds a predefined pressure-maintaining range, an indication is concluded that the tool needs to be checked for a break in the work jaw.

    Abstract: A hydraulically operated handheld device and a method of operating same are provided. The device includes a hydraulic pump, a moving part, a fixed part and a return valve with an associated valve seat. The moving part is moved into a working position due to the buildup of a hydraulic pressure by filling a hydraulic chamber with hydraulic medium from a reservoir with the aid of the hydraulic pump. The moving part can be automatically moved back from the working position into an end position upon reaching a predefined working pressure by opening the return valve. The hydraulic pressure acting upon the return valve is increased by a separately triggerable pressure increase, which results in opening of the return valve, in a hydraulic medium volume located upstream of the return valve in a flow direction of the hydraulic medium during the movement into the end position.
