  • Patent number: 8325443
Abstract: A magnetic disk device includes a magnetic disk and a magnetic head having a magnetic head slider flying by an action of air during rotation of the magnetic disk, wherein an inflow of air from a direction of a leading side face of the magnetic head slider forming an air bearing film effect at an air bearing surface face of the magnetic head slider which faces the magnetic disk, and the air flows out from a trailing side face of the magnetic head slider. The magnetic head slider has a wettability, in at least a part of an outer region defined on the trailing side face and adjoining other faces including the air bearing surface face of the magnetic head slider, which is lower than a wettability of at least one other region present at the trailing side face.

  • Patent number: 8096490
Abstract: A fuel injection valve comprises a valve seat, a movable valve element which is seated on or separated from the valve seat, and a nozzle member having a plurality of nozzle holes. At least one of the valve element and valve seat has a curved surface at a contact position where they contact with each other when the valve element is seated on the valve seat. Two or more of the nozzle holes are provided outside an intersection line of a virtual extension surface along a tangential line to the curved surface at the contact position and a surface of the nozzle member.

  • Publication number: 20100202085
Abstract: In a magnetic disk device including a magnetic disk coated with a lubricant, a face of a magnetic head slider, at a trailing side of the slider, is constructed so that all or part of an outer region adjoining other faces is made less wettable than other regions present at the trailing side face. For example, the trailing side face 13 of the magnetic head slider 8 has a protrusion 12 at both upper and lower ends of the face 13. Surface wettability of a face 12a forming the top of one of the protrusions 12 is reduced below surface wettability of other regions (a face 12c orthogonal to the face 12a, and a region 11). In addition, the other regions each have surface wettability that allows any sticking droplets of the lubricant to provide a sufficient wetting spread, but to such an extent that the droplets do not fall. This prevents a wetting spread of the lubricant to an air bearing surface, and hence, a fall of the lubricant from the magnetic head slider. Reliability is therefore enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20060289424
Abstract: A double feed detecting apparatus includes an ultrasonic wave transmitter configured to transmit an ultrasonic wave to a sheet, an ultrasonic wave receiver configured to receive the ultrasonic wave transmitted by the ultrasonic wave transmitter, a comparison device configured to compare the signal received by the ultrasonic wave receiver with a predetermined threshold, and a double feed detecting device configured to detect a double-feed based on the comparison result of the comparison device. The double feed detecting device calculates the threshold before detecting the double feed.

  • Publication number: 20060018676
Abstract: This invention provides an image forming apparatus which forms an image more safely even when an abnormality occurs in a fixing device. The image forming apparatus of this invention includes two fixing devices and a fixing controller. Each fixing device includes a switch which supplies power to a fixing heater, a temperature sensor which measures the temperature of the fixing heater, and a comparator which determines from the measured temperature whether or not the fixing heater is normally operating, and outputs an error signal when an abnormality occurs. With this arrangement, when at least one comparator outputs an abnormality signal, the fixing controller can control the switches to stop the supply of power to all the fixing devices, thereby forming an image more safely.

  • Patent number: 6724577
Abstract: The structure is made such that an aerodynamic latch is provided in an outer portion of a magnetic disc, a front end portion exposed to a wind in the aerodynamic latch is formed to be shorter than an outer peripheral surface of the magnetic disc, and the wind receiving portion of the aerodynamic latch moves an air stream outlet from an end surface of the magnetic disc and a shroud in a direction of forming a flow passage for passing through a portion apart from the magnetic disc. Accordingly, a stable aerodynamic latch drive can be achieved and an air stream within the disc is not disturbed, so that it is possible to reduce a flutter and a consumed electric power.

  • Patent number: 5386174
Abstract: Disclosed is a front panel capable of accommondating a shadow-mask high-quality color cathode-ray tube. By using the panel in combination with a shadow mask employing non-deforming steel having a small coefficient of expansion, a panel which is well-balanced and easy to view is obtained. The front panel consists of a transparent glass material and has an outer surface and an inner surface formed to be curved surfaces. The radius of curvature in one direction of the curved surface forming the outer surface of the front panel is greater than the radius of curvature in a direction perpendicular to the first-mentioned direction.
