  • Patent number: 8391385
Abstract: OFDM symbols are generated using data from one or more users or from one or more data sources represented on a number of sub-carriers. To inhibit multiple-access interference on application of the CDMA principle, the data are transformed in a data-source specific manner and only subsequently allocated to the sub-carriers, independently of the transformation.

  • Patent number: 8111660
Abstract: A method transmits data by radio during which a frequency band is split into a plurality of subcarriers, and a plurality of antennas are used for transmitting. The data are split into a number of elements, which are to be respectively transmitted by each antenna, said number of elements corresponding to the number of subcarriers, whereby for each antenna, each element is respectively assigned to a subcarrier for transmitting, and at least two antennas on at least one subcarrier transmit different elements. Before an OFDM modulation for each antenna, each element is multiplied by an antenna-specific and element-specific factor. Alternatively, after an OFDM modulation for at least one antenna, the time sequence of the time-dependent signal generated on the basis of the OFDM modulation is reordered. A transmitter carries out the method.

  • Patent number: 8112695
Abstract: Irregular LDPC codes have a construction which allows one to obtain a number of codes with different length from a single prototype code with a parity check matrix given by H=[Hz Hi], where Hz specifies the well-known zigzag pattern in the corresponding Tanner graph. The parity check matrices for longer codes are obtained as [Hz??diag(Hi, . . . , Hi)], where Hz? specifies a longer zigzag pattern depending on the number of matrices Hi used, and ? represents some permutation. This allows one to construct the decoder for a longer code by reusing hardware components developed for decoding the prototype code.

  • Patent number: 7953066
Abstract: Data is transmitted via time division multiple access methods and every radio cell includes one base station each for the radio coverage of a plurality of mobile stations assigned to the radio cell. The base station receives, in addition to mobile station signals of its own radio cell, mobile station signals of neighboring radio cells and determines, on the basis of the mobile station signals received, a time synchronization value and/or a frequency synchronization value to which the base station synchronizes itself.

  • Patent number: 7328034
Abstract: A method synchronizes a radio communication system divided into radio cells. Data is transmitted in the radio communication system by a multiple access method. Each radio cell thus has a base station for the radio feed of several mobile stations, allocated to the radio cell. A synchronization of the base station is carried out using the received signals from mobile stations in the same radio cell and also in adjacent radio cells. The base station determines at least one pilot signal and signals said pilot signal to the allocated mobile stations in a downwards direction. The allocated mobile stations transmit the signaled pilot signal in an upwards direction to the base station. The base station determines a synchronization value, from the received pilot signals from the radio cell thereof and also from the adjacent radio cells, fro a time synchronization and/or for a frequency synchronization on which the bas station is synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20060211426
Abstract: Radio communication resources are allocated in a cellular radio communication system having a plurality of user stations and network units by subdividing a frequency band that is sub-divided into a plurality of sub-carriers used for communication purposes. In several radio cells, one or more network units sub-divides(s) the frequency band into a number of sub-bands having one or more respective sub-carriers, sub-divide(s) the user stations into a number of groups and allocate(s) a sub-band for communication purposes to each group. The number of sub-bands differs for at least two radio cells.

  • Publication number: 20060203923
Abstract: A method for the code-modulated transmission of information in a communications system via a carrier having at least two independent orthogonal resources, uses in particular a frequency band with a plurality of sub-resources as the first resource and the time as the second resource with a sequence of time slots constituting the sub-resource. A code of coded data or information in the form of a two-dimensional matrix is used to assign the information to the individual resources, said matrix having a rank that is greater than or equal to 2. A unique mapping of the code elements to the symbols of an OFDM transmission system is carried out in such a way that transmission errors in both the first sub-resource and the second sub-resource can be reconstructed on the receiver side.
