Patent number: 10761346Abstract: A head-mounted wearable device utilizes electronics placed in one or more of a left temple or a right temple. The temples are joined to a front frame using hinges. The hinges provide passageways, slots, or other openings to permit passage of a flexible printed circuit (FPC) within an open core of the hinge. The FPC allows communication between the left temple and the right temple. During motion of the hinge, the FPC may twist such that the ends within the hinge are rotated relative to one another while remaining substantially parallel to one another. The overall length of the FPC passing through the hinge remains substantially unchanged between the hinge being open or closed. The FPC remains protected within the hinge and is minimally displaced, preventing the introduction of a crease in the FPC at a hinge line.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2015Date of Patent: September 1, 2020Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Jung Sik Yang, Eliot Kim, Chia-Jean Wang

Patent number: 10670888Abstract: A head-mounted wearable device incorporates a channel inset into a front frame. A flexible printed circuit (FPC) is arranged within the channel and allows communication between a left side of the front frame to a right side. Using the FPC, electronics in a left temple attached to the front frame are connected to the electronics in a right temple attached to the front frame. A retention piece is used to maintain the FPC within the channel, provide protection from an external environment, and so forth. The retention piece may comprise an overmold of silicone plastic.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2015Date of Patent: June 2, 2020Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Jung Sik Yang, Eliot Kim, Chia-Jean Wang

Patent number: 10598959Abstract: Lenses may be mounted to eyewear using several techniques. A first technique involves the use of a lens unit that is mounted to a frame at a frame bridge. The lens unit includes a lens frame split proximate to the frame bridge, allowing the frame to be opened and a lens inserted. A second technique involves a mechanical interference arrangement that allows a lens to be inserted into, and retained by, a frame groove in a front frame. An inner cover may then be affixed to the front frame to enclose electronics in the front frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2016Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Jung Sik Yang, Eliot Kim

Patent number: 10187720Abstract: The present disclosure provides an earphone device with sound adjustment capability that allows a user to dynamically adjust sound acoustics resonating from the device. In one aspect, the earphone device includes a housing having an acoustic output port. The acoustic output port is adapted to receive an audio signal. In this regard, sound resonates from the acoustic output port based on the audio signal. The earphone device also includes a telescopic portion having a hollow tube portion attached to the housing. The hollow tube portion may be in communication with the acoustic output port. The telescopic portion is configured to receive a fitting member. The fitting member is configured to adjust a bass range of the outputted sound resonating from the acoustic output port by passing through the telescopic portion so as to adjust a length of the hollow tube portion.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2017Date of Patent: January 22, 2019Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Eliot Kim, Jianchun Dong, Michael Kai Morishita

Patent number: 10092429Abstract: Flared stents are disclosed, and apparatus and methods for delivering such stents into a bifurcation between a main vessel and a branch vessel. The stent includes a first tubular portion a second flaring portion that may be flared radially outwardly to contact the ostium. The stent may include variable mechanical properties along its length. The stent may be delivered using a catheter including proximal and distal ends, the stent overlying first and second balloons on the distal end. During use, the catheter is advanced through an ostium into the branch to place the stent within the branch. The first balloon is expanded to flare the stent to contact a wall of the ostium, thereby causing the stent to migrate partially into the ostium. The second balloon is expanded to fully expand the stent within the ostium and branch.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2006Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: INCEPT, LLCInventors: Jeffrey A. Patent number: 10014636Abstract: A cable includes a flexible jacket extending along a length and first and second lateral axes perpendicular to the length. The jacket also defines flat major surfaces that are parallel to each other and spaced apart on opposite sides of the first lateral axis. First and second inner wire assemblies extend within the jacket. The jacket maintains the first and second inner wire assembles in predetermined positions along the first lateral axis within 0.05 mm of each other and disposed on opposing sides of the second lateral axis. First and second outer wire assemblies also extend within the jacket. The outer wire assemblies include a wire of conductive filaments and an insulating layer of an enamel material surrounding the wire.
