Abstract: Devices and methods for retrieving an intravascular device disposed within a blood vessel are disclosed. A retrieval device in accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention includes an elongated member, a retractable dilator tip, and a retraction wire operatively coupled to the retractable dilator tip. The retraction wire can be connected to a slide mechanism that can be actuated by the physician to expose an interior cavity of the retrieval device that receives the intravascular device therein. In some embodiments, the retrieval device can include an inflatable balloon cuff, a tip deflection wire, and/or other means to facilitate advancement of the retrieval device beyond obstructions within the blood vessel.
