Publication number: 20190138992Abstract: A user having multiple electronic devices may receive notifications at each of the devices. When it is determined that a first device is in an active state and that a notification has been viewed on that device, an indication that the notification has been viewed may be communicated by the first device to a synchronization server. It may then be determined whether the viewed notification is also present on one or more of the user's other devices. Based on the determination, an indication that the notification has been viewed may be sent from the synchronization server to each of the user's devices on which the notification is present. Upon receipt of the indication from the synchronization server, the viewed notification may be removed from each of the devices, thereby avoiding a redundant display of the notification on multiple devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2019Publication date: May 9, 2019Inventors: Imran Chaudhri, Stephen Lemay, Elizabeth Caroline Furches Cranfill, Ron Huang

Patent number: 10275436Abstract: An electronic device with a display showing a user interface (UI) automatically adjusts the zoom level of a magnification region. The electronic device receives a request to magnify at least a portion of the display showing the UI. The electronic device determines the context that the electronic device was operating in at the time of the magnification request. The context is comprised of display parameters, environmental parameters, or both. The electronic device displays the UI at a zoom level determined based on user preferences. Upon detecting a text input condition, the device resizes and optionally moves the magnification region so that the resized magnification region does not overlap with the newly displayed composition interface window. The device uses an auto-snap feature when the content within the magnification region displays a second boundary upon scrolling the content within the magnification region from a first boundary opposite the second one.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2015Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Aaron M. Everitt, Christopher Brian Fleizach, Darren C. Minifie, Elizabeth Caroline Furches Cranfill, Eric T. Seymour, Gregory F. Hughes

Publication number: 20180276353Abstract: A first electronic device is configured to operate in a restricted mode of operation, which restricted mode may be terminated or continued by one or more remotely located authorization devices, according to predetermined criteria. In a restricted mode, a first set of permitted applications stored on the first electronic device are executable, and a first set of data is accessible. While operating in the restricted mode, the first device detects a termination condition of the restricted mode and transmits an indication of the termination condition to one or more authorization devices. After transmitting the request, the first electronic devices receives an indication that the restricted mode of the operation has been continued according to predetermined criteria. Responsive to receiving the indication, the first electronic device continues to operate in the restricted mode according to the predetermined criteria.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2018Publication date: September 27, 2018Inventors: Donald Walter Pitschel, Maria Dimitrova Ioveva, Christopher Brian Fleizach, Elizabeth Caroline Furches Cranfill

Publication number: 20180114010Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to managing access to credentials. In some examples, an electronic device authorizes release of credentials for use in an operation for which authorization is required. In some examples, an electronic device causes display of one or more steps to be taken to enable an input device for user input. In some examples, an electronic device disambiguates between commands to change the account that is actively logged-in on the device and commands to cause credentials to be released from the secure element.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2017Publication date: April 26, 2018Inventors: Marcel VAN OS, Peter D. ANTON, Patrick L. COFFMAN, Elizabeth Caroline Furches CRANFILL, Raymond S. SEPULVEDA, Chun Kin Minor WONG

Publication number: 20180033078Abstract: Providing an online store interface that maintains continuity of a user browsing experience by layering a product view on top of referring product views or online-store pages such that a user can navigate back to the referring page without needing the previous page to reload, and re-navigate to the point the user left off. Providing the ability for an item preview to continue even when a user navigates the online store interface away from the preview page further preserves browsing continuity. The present technology also provides a mechanism for allowing users to specify favorite categories and have them listed as tabs in the user interface when the online store is browsed with an appropriate device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2017Publication date: February 1, 2018Inventors: Daniel Emil Pu, Monika E. Gromek, William Martin Bachman, Joseph Andrew Magnani, Taylor Gerard Carrigan, Juliana Diaz Delgado, Brendon Manwaring, Joshua Kane McGlinn, Jeffrey L. Patent number: 9846684Abstract: A system, method and non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium are disclosed for implementing dynamic layout rules for attributed text strings having different type styles. In some implementations, developers can use an Application Programming Interface (API) or a design tool to specify dynamic text layout rules for rendering attributed text strings in a user interface (UI). Various text attributes associated with the different type styles (e.g., font metrics) are dynamically adjusted based on the dynamic text layout rules to improve the readability of the text when, for example, font sizes are adjusted. In some implementations, one or more parameters of a text container, text container region, line-fragment or display object are dynamically adjusted based on the dynamic text layout rules to improve the readability of the text.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2014Date of Patent: December 19, 2017Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Jason Clay Beaver, Elizabeth Caroline Furches Cranfill, Eric Lance Wilson, David Chance Graham, Johannes Fortmann, Olivier Gutknecht, Antonio Cavedoni
