Publication number: 20180041377Abstract: A method, system and computer program product. A first computer device identifies a notifiable management event relating to the first computer device, wherein the first computer device is unable to notify a management device of the notifiable management event via a management network because the first computer device is unable to connect to the management network. The first computer device sends, to a second computer device via a broadcast or multicast communication, an event notification of the notifiable management event. The first computer device receives, from the second computer device via a first unicast communication, an acknowledgement of the event notification, wherein the second computer device is able to connect to the management network. The broadcast or multicast communication and the first unicast communication each use a short-range wireless communications technology.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2016Publication date: February 8, 2018Inventors: Andrew S. Feltham, Colin I. Holyoake, Elizabeth J. Maple

Patent number: 9600567Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product handles a query generated by a user of one of multiple local network devices that are coupled to a network. Multiple system queries request states of the local network devices. Query statements, responsive to the system queries and being sent to a wide area network search engine, are intercepted. A natural language query, which is a logical query that is answered by one of the multiple query statements, is generated from one of the multiple query statements. An unstructured query, from a user, about a state of a particular device is received. The unstructured query from the user is compared with the natural language query in order to determine if a match between the query from the user with the natural language query exceeds a predetermined threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2016Date of Patent: March 21, 2017Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Elizabeth J. Maple, Richard W. Pilot, Martin A. Ross, Craig H. Stirling, Ian T. Stirling

Publication number: 20160364310Abstract: In an approach for managing a set of tests to run on a set of platforms, a processor identifies a set of tests to run on a set of platforms and one or more priorities associated with the set of tests. A processor sends the set of tests and the one or more priorities associated with the set of tests to the set of platforms. A processor receives information about a first test run of a first test on a first platform of the set of platforms. A processor determines that the first test failed on the first platform. A processor updates the one or more priorities associated with the set of tests. A processor sends the updated one or more priorities associated with the set of tests to at least the second platform.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2015Publication date: December 15, 2016Inventors: Elizabeth J. Maple, Alexander R. Pringle, Kevin B. Smith, David R. Waddling
