Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an electronic equipment for reducing the set-up time required to establish video calls between handheld communication devices, wherein the method comprises the steps of detecting (16, S1) a signal to establish a video call via a communication link, determining (16, 30) the party to which the video call has to be established, searching, in a data base (30), for information indicating the capability of the party with respect to the video call, defining, for the electronic equipment (1), specifications for the video call based on the information, and initialling the electronic equipment (1) according to the specifications. By storing the negotiated result of a previous video call between communication devices, no further negotiation is necessary in the following video calls. The calling device can start its camera (8) and load its codecs during the calling phase and the called device can do it after receiving the set-up message from the network.

Abstract: A system compiles a music playlist to accommodate the tastes of various participants in a group setting. A music profile is created for each participant, the profile containing representations of songs that are characteristic of the participant's tastes. A master device may then compile a “super profile” that constitutes a compilation of the various participant profiles. Each participant device may then access the super profile and search among its specific song collection to find music that is similar to one or more songs represented in the super profile. From such songs, the master device may compile a playlist of songs that are similar among the participant devices, thereby representing the songs that correspond to the collective musical tastes of the participants. The playlist may be updated as participants enter and leave the group to track the changing collective tastes of the participants.

In one aspect of the invention, a mobile telephone initiates a search for electronic equipment having a predetermined modality and within communication range of the mobile telephone. Electronic equipment capable of responding to the request transmit information through a local interface adapter. Such information may include, for example, a unique identifier that may include a telephone number, session initiation protocol (SIP) address of the electronic equipment, user social security number, user and/or contact biometric information, and the like. By receiving the unique identifier of the electronic equipment, the mobile telephone may search an associated electronic phonebook application to identify contact information associated with the unique identifier.

At least one candidate from each source is selected. The beat length associated with each the selected candidate is set and adjusted, if necessary. A fade mixing profile is selected. The fade mix profile adjusts a volume parameter associated with the selected candidate from each source over a transition period of time. The selected candidate from each source together is mixed according to the fade mixing profile to transition over the transition period time between the first multimedia content source and the second multimedia content source to form a beat mix transition.
