  • Patent number: 11015218
Abstract: A method for carrying out nucleic acid amplification, includes providing a reaction chamber, accommodating an array of nucleic acid probes at respective locations, for hybridizing to respective target nucleic acids; and introducing a solution into the reaction chamber, wherein the solution contains primers, capable of binding to target nucleic acids, nucleotides, nucleic acid extending enzymes and a sample including nucleic acids. The a structure of the nucleic acid probes and of the primers so that a hybridization temperature of the probes is higher than an annealing temperature of the primers, whereby hybridization and annealing take place in respective separate temperature ranges.

Date of Patent: May 25, 2021
    Assignee: STMicroelectronics S.R.L.
    Inventors: Enrico Alessi, Daniele Ricceri
  • Patent number: 9856522
Abstract: A method for carrying out nucleic acid amplification, includes providing a reaction chamber (31), accommodating an array (36) of nucleic acid probes (37) at respective locations; for hybridizing to respective target nucleic acids; and introducing a solution (50) into the reaction chamber (31), wherein the solution (50) contains primers, capable of binding to target nucleic acids, nucleotides, nucleic acid extending enzymes and a sample including nucleic acids. The structure of the nucleic acid probes (37) and of the primers is selected so that a hybridization temperature (TH) of the probes (37) is higher than an annealing temperature (TA) of the primers, whereby hybridization and annealing take place in respective separate (non-overlapping) temperature ranges (RH, RA).
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 2, 2018
    Assignee: STMicroelectronics S.r.l.

  • Publication number: 20120040856
Abstract: A method for detecting the presence of liquids includes detecting an initial temperature in a channel accommodating a liquid; heating the channel for a pre-determined test time; detecting a test temperature; determining a temperature variation on the basis of the initial temperature, the test temperature, and the test time; and comparing the temperature variation with at least one threshold. Before detecting an initial temperature, an ambient temperature is read, the channel is heated to the initial temperature, and is kept at the initial temperature for a time period.

  • Patent number: 7587280
Abstract: A method for automatic analysis of genomic information in order to determine relationships among genes allows one to determine complex relationships among genes. First a clustering algorithm is chosen and is applied to the table, obtaining sub-tables of data relative to groups of genes that satisfy the chosen clustering criterion. Therefore, all possible combinations of pair of sub-tables are generated and characteristic parameters are calculated for genes contained in these sub-tables. Finally, for each combination a characteristic value is calculated with a decision algorithm defined in function of these parameters, by considering the genes of the combination as constituting a “Gene Network” if this characteristic value exceeds a pre-defined threshold. The method is preferably is implemented by a relative system of identification of groups of co-expressed and co-regulated genes comprising an intelligent fuzzy sub-system trained off-line identified by a neural network.

  • Patent number: 7536045
Abstract: A method of image analysis applicable to the analysis of arrays, such as DNA or protein microarrays. In the method the luminous spots of the array are filtered and isolated without any intervention of the operator by using a technique of morphological filtering. The spots thus isolated are subsequently analyzed by a fuzzy logic algorithm.
