  • Patent number: 4935674
Abstract: A multi-channel, multiple deflection waveform generator for a convergence control system and the like comprises an analog circuit source for a plurality of basic waveforms and a basic waveform processor for each of a plurality of channels. Each of the channel processors may comprise a plurality of circuits for modifying the basic waveforms, a circuit for combining any combination of modified waveforms to form a specifically configured composite waveform and a remotely controllable shift register for independently setting each of the plurality of modifying circuits from a central control, for example, by means of an existing serial bus. Each of the modifying circuits may comprise a first part for altering the scale of one of the basic waveforms and a second part for altering the gain of the same one of the basic waveforms.

  • Patent number: 4866525
Abstract: An SCR switch of a switch mode power supply is coupled between an unregulated supply voltage and a filter capacitor. A regulator oscillator generates trigger pulses for controlling a switching operation of the SCR switch of the power supply to produce an output supply voltage that energizes a deflection circuit. The regulator oscillator produces trigger pulses that are applied to the SCR switch during both power-up and power-off operation. A resistor coupled between the unregulated supply voltage and the filter capacitor maintains the filter capacitor charged during power-off operation to prevent the trigger pulses from causing the latching operation in the SCR switch throughout the power-off operation. In this way, an audible parasitic vibration sound is not being generated by the power supply during the power-off operation.

  • Patent number: 4829216
Abstract: In a switching power supply for a television apparatus, a switching stage is coupled to a source of DC input voltage and to an energy storage inductance for developing a source of DC supply voltage. Operation of the switching stage generates a switched waveform voltage in the inductance. The primary winding of a flyback transformer is coupled to and energized by the DC supply voltage. A second winding of the flyback transformer is coupled to the inductance and provides a magnetic path, via the flyback transformer, for energy to circulate between the source of DC supply voltage and the energy storage inductance. An auxiliary winding is magnetically coupled to the inductance and to a load circuit, such as a high power audio stage, for transferring at least a portion of the circulating energy to the load circuit. Additionally, the flyback transformer may be used to directly transfer energy to the load circuit.

  • Patent number: 4703233
Abstract: A single pole double throw rotary switch includes a non-conductive terminal board. A washer-like wiper element is rotatably secured to the terminal board by a tubular rivet. An outwardly extending portion of the wiper element selectively engages one of a pair of output terminals. When the wiper element occupies a midrange position, the rotary switch is electrically open. A non-conductive actuating member is rotatably mounted on the terminal board for positioning the wiper element.

  • Patent number: 4672642
Abstract: A periodic signal, at the frequency of the AC mains supply voltage, contains signal pulses, each having a duration that is substantially shorter than half the period of the AC mains supply voltage. The periodic signal is coupled to a high frequency transformer to form a periodic output signal that is applied to a time-of-day measurement circuit that provides time-of-day display information for a television receiver. The transformer provides conductive isolation between the time-of-day measurement circuit and the AC mains supply voltage source.

  • Patent number: 4651214
Abstract: A mains rectified DC input voltage is applied to a series-pass regulator to develop a regulated B+ supply voltage. To reduce dissipation in the series-pass transistor, a shunt resistor parallels the series-pass transistor. To place the remote controlled television receiver in the standby-mode of operation, a remote standby control circuit applies an on/off command signal to the horizontal deflection circuit. Operation of the horizontal deflection circuit during the off-state of the command signal is disabled, thereby disabling the flyback transformer derived voltage supplies. A thyristor is placed in series with the shunt resistor and blocks current flow to the B+ supply terminal from the input voltage terminal during standby. To resume run-mode operation, the remote standby control circuit generates the on-state of the command signal to reenable horizontal deflection circuit.

  • Patent number: 4642530
Abstract: A combined top and bottom pincushion and gullwing distortion correction circuit uses nonlinear reactor to introduce an appropriately modulated horizontal frequency and second harmonic of the horizontal frequency component into the vertical scanning current path. The nonlinear reactor functions as a transformer with a secondary that provides a correction voltage in series with the vertical scanning current path. The transformer effectively has two series opposing primary windings magnetically coupled to the secondary. These primaries, energized by waves at the horizontal frequency and the second harmonic frequency, alternately predominate over each other to a variable degree, and in a manner determined by the vertical scanning current, for inducing corresponding voltage at the secondary winding. The secondary winding is coupled to a first tuned circuit that generates a horizontal rate north-south pincushion correction component voltage of the total correction voltage.
