  • Patent number: 8159210
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of detecting the configuration of a network having a feeder line with a plurality of feeder meters and distribution transformer meters (DTMs) coupled thereto and with one or more customer meters and/or customer configuration modules coupled to the distribution transformers. The method includes the steps of having each of the feeder meters transmit a uniquely identifiable signal through the feeder line. The DTMs then identifying the phase of each of the uniquely identifiable signals and then transmitting the phase of each of the uniquely identifiable signals to a data collector along with a unique DTM identifier. The connectivity relationship between the feeder meters and distribution transformer meters is then extrapolated by comparing the phase information transmitted by the DTMs.

  • Publication number: 20110148393
Abstract: A system and device for measuring voltage in a conductor having a voltage provides a first electrode surrounding and spaced from the conductor, and a second electrode surrounding and spaced from both the conductor and the first electrode such that there is no contact between the conductor and the electrodes or between the first and second electrodes. The first electrode is connected to a first input of a differential amplifier circuit and the second electrode is connected to the other input of the differential amplifier circuit. The output of the differential amplifier circuit provides a voltage signal in proportion to the voltage of the conductor, thus providing a non-contact means for measuring the voltage of a conductor without requiring a connection to ground while simultaneously providing a high level of rejection of external interference.

  • Publication number: 20100312921
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting the connection of a FireWire peer to a FireWire device. In one embodiment, a device may determine whether a peer connection is present based on peer detection circuit configured in each FireWire port of a FireWire device. When no peer is connected to a device, a peer connection in the circuit may be open, and a current path through the circuit may provide a low detect signal, indicating that no peer is connected. When a peer is connected to a detecting device, the current may pass through a resistance in the detected peer to provide a high detect signal, indicating that a peer is connected. In some embodiments, once a peer is detected, the FireWire system of the detecting device may be powered on, and the peer detection circuit may be powered off.

  • Publication number: 20100007336
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of monitoring an electrical network of the type having a feeder line connected to a plurality of distribution transformers, each distribution transformer being in turn coupled to a load which may be provided with a customer meter. The method includes the steps of recording an accumulated in-phase current at each of the distribution transformers over a time period and recording for the same time period an accumulated in-phase current at the feeder line. The sum of the accumulated in-phase currents recorded at the distribution transformers are then compared to the accumulated in-phase current recorded at the feeder line. The method may also include the steps of recording accumulated in-phase currents at the customer meters and comparing their sum with the accumulated in-phase current measured at the distribution transformers coupled to the customer meters.

  • Patent number: 7555451
Abstract: A method and system for automatically estimating budget items based on past transactions and generating a cash flow forecast for one or more accounts. A budget item is determined for each of a plurality of categories of transactions. A frequency and amount of each budget item is determined as a function of an actual transaction count, a date span of actual transactions, and a sum of actual transaction amounts—all of the transactions occurring in the past. For each budget item, a cash flow transaction is determined as a function of a posting date criterion and a selected forecast period. A running balance of the cash flow transactions is determined and displayed. Through the display, a user is enabled to modify individual cash flow transactions to generate a new cash flow forecast, or generate an alternate cash flow forecast that can be compared to the original cash flow forecast.

  • Patent number: 7506905
Abstract: A wedge for securing in an open position a hinged door having opposite faces and an edge between the faces. The wedge is luminescent and includes a bottom surface, a top surface at an acute angle to the bottom surface, and a pair of opposite side surfaces extending between the top and bottom surfaces. The wedge further includes an indentation on the bottom and each of the side surfaces sized to fully engage the door edge and make substantial contact with the door edge and the opposite faces. The wedge may be used to identify an entrance or exit to a room during no or low-light emergency conditions by using a UV light source to locate the luminescent wedge and location of the open door.

  • Publication number: 20090068255
Abstract: The application of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitors to the skin inhibits the degradation of proteins found in the skin including collagen, elastin, and other basement membrane and extracellular matrix protein. MMP inhibitors may be used in both cosmetic compositions and pharmaceutical compositions for application to skin. MMP inhibitors are formulated with a cosmetically suitable vehicle or pharmaceutically acceptable excipient for application to the skin as creams, lotions, ointments, solutions, face masks, etc. As cosmetics, the inventive MMP inhibitor compositions are applied to the skin to prevent or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation changes, loss of elasticity, or other effects associated with aging or sun damage. As pharmaceuticals, the inventive MMP inhibitor compositions may also be applied to the skin to treat or prevent a skin disease (e.g., proliferative disease, inflammatory disease).

  • Patent number: 6965225
Abstract: A time varying current sensor is constructed using surface coils uniformly spaced around a central cavity adapted to receive the conductor through which the current to be measured flows. Accurate and uniform coil geometry is achieved using printed circuit board technology, thereby eliminating the high cost of precision toroidal coil winding. An optional hinge in the housing can allow the sensor to be easily installed on existing conductors without the need to disconnect and reconnect.

  • Patent number: 6960326
Abstract: The invention provides a method of separating uranium from at least fission products in irradiated nuclear fuel, said method comprising reacting said irradiated nuclear fuel with a solution of ammonium fluoride in hydrogen fluoride fluorinating said reacted irradiated nuclear fuel to form a volatile uranium fluoride compound and separating said volatile uranium fluoride compound from involatile fission products. The invention thus provides a reprocessing scheme for irradiated nuclear fuel. The method is also capable of reacting, and breaking down Zircaloy cladding and stainless steel assembly components. Thus, whole fuel elements may be dissolved as one thereby simplifying procedures over conventional Purex processes.

  • Patent number: 6876245
Abstract: A bi-directional solid state switch has two main transistors which are connected to each other with input to input and input referenced output to input referenced output. Each unreferenced transistor output is separately connected to an output terminal of the switch. An electrical impedance is connected between the input connection and the input referenced output connection. A driver signal is connected across the input connection and one output terminal. This circuit topology is counter-intuitive, but provides advantages which can include eliminating the need for electrical isolation, being capable of turning on or off at any time, at or between zero crossings, having a high speed of response, simplicity, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and energy-efficiency.
