  • Patent number: 9943264
Abstract: A system and method for profiling electrical activity in smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract muscular of a patient are disclosed. The system includes electromyographic-sensing patches adapted for placement on the skin of the abdomen of the patient. Each patch has at least one bipolar electrode pair, or a multitude arranged in an array, and is enabled for communication of a signal indicative of a sensed electromyographic signal. The system further includes networked computing devices. The local patch device is configured for wireless communication between the EMG-sensing patches and a local computing device, to enable wireless transmission from the patch to the networked computing devices. The networked computing device is configured to process large aggregate collections of multi-hour or day signals received from the local computing device to yield diagnostically valuable physiological parameters of gastrointestinal smooth muscle electrical activity.

  • Publication number: 20180016578
Abstract: Agents and methods for increasing dystrophin protein expression in muscle through blocking of specific microRNAs and microRNA binding sites on the dystrophin 3? untranslated region (miR-146a, miRNA-146b, miR-223, miR-320a, miR374a, and miR-382). Methods for increasing the amount of dystrophin useful for effective therapeutic intervention for Becker muscular dystrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and other disorders where loss of dystrophin from muscle causes pathology.

  • Publication number: 20170163653
Abstract: Described herein are method and apparatus for servicing software components of nodes of a cluster storage system. During data-access sessions with clients, client IDs and file handles for accessing files are produced and stored to clients and stored (as session data) to each node. A serviced node is taken offline, whereby network connections to clients are disconnected. Each disconnected client is configured to retain its client ID and file handles and attempt reconnections. Session data of the serviced node is made available to a partner node (by transferring session data to the partner node). After clients have reconnected to the partner node, the clients may use the retained client IDs and file handles to continue a data-access session with the partner node since the partner node has access to the session data of the serviced node and thus will recognize and accept the retained client ID and file handles.

  • Publication number: 20160256639
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for monitoring usage of a medicament dispenser—particularly an inhaled medicament dispenser. While operating in a low-power mode, a first sensor is monitored for a signal indicative of handling of the medicament dispenser by a user. In response to detecting such handling, the device exits the low-power mode and begins to monitor a second sensor for a signal indicative of dispensing of the medicament. The usage monitoring device can be embodied as an attachment configured to be selectively coupled to one of a variety of different inhalers including, for example, a Diskus-type inhaler and a Respimat-type inhaler.

  • Publication number: 20150168425
Abstract: As described herein, a robust generalizable method to accurately and sensitively quantitate proteins in tissues and fluids from human patients in a direct manner, not reliant on antibody reagents has been developed. This provides new and robust methods that are useful as biochemical outcome measures in human clinical trials. The methods where mouse tissues fully labeled with stable isotopes are mixed with the human tissue of interest, and the mixture subjected to high throughput proteomics methods are provided. The method detects multiple protein peptides showing 100% conservation between human and mouse, and establishes test and control proteins for quantitation of surrogate biomarkers. This assay method provides a high degree of reliability and sensitivity, as well as generalizability, compared to more traditional antibody-based assays. The specific peptide pairs and methods of quantitation are also described.
