  • Patent number: 9338759
Abstract: A method, system, and/or apparatus for automatically tracking a mobile user using the user's mobile device. This invention is particularly useful in the field of social media, such as for detecting and tracking the location and activity of a user and her community. The method or implementing software application uses or relies upon location information available on the mobile device from any source, such as cell phone usage and/or other device applications. The method provides a tracking functionality that uses less battery power than a GPS system. The method includes a location module configured to receive location transmissions, places the location module into a sleep mode when possible, awakens the location module upon receipt of a location transmission, and determines a location with the location module and the location transmission. These steps are desirably repeated to continually and automatically track the mobile user.

  • Publication number: 20160066864
Abstract: A method, system, and/or apparatus for automatically monitoring for possible mental or physical health concerns. The method or implementing software application uses or relies upon location information available on the mobile device from any source, such as cell phone usage and/or other device applications. The method and system automatically learns user activity patterns and detects significant deviations therefrom. The deviations are automatically analyzed for known correlations to mental or physical concerns, which can then be automatically communicated to a relevant friend, family member, and/or medical professional.

This invention is particularly useful in the field of social media, such as for detecting and tracking the location and activity of a user and her community. The method or implementing software application uses or relies upon location information available on the mobile device from any source, such as cell phone usage and/or other device applications. The social media system can automatically determine a location type and/or user activity from context information. The context information can include current and past location and user and/or community information, time-dependent information, and third party information. The automated location and context information allows for users to set triggering conditions for other users, such as to provide an alert to one user or more users upon a particular action of the monitored other user being automatically determined by the system.

  • Patent number: 8782912
Abstract: A tool for carpentry that when used with a nail, a pencil, and a tape measure can draw circles and arcs from a radius of 1 inch up to that of the length of the tape measure. It can also easily make circles or arcs with a radius of 2 inches up to 12 inches using pencil guide holes that are staggered down the length of the device at one eighth-inch intervals. The tool has two rare earth magnets that hold the tape measure to the tool during use. The magnets can be used also to hold a nail on the tool for storage purposes. In that way, a nail is always available when a circle is needed. For more convenience, one or more bubble levels can be added to the tool making the tool not only a circle tool but a torpedo level as well.

  • Patent number: 8193903
Abstract: A method of associating a transmitter and a receiver in a supplemental remote control system for materials handling vehicles includes initiating a power on sequence to enable a vehicle for operation, the vehicle having a receiver for receiving wirelessly transmitted travel commands, and pairing and synchronizing the receiver and a corresponding vehicle controller to a select one of a plurality of wireless remote control devices. Pairing mode confidence signals are received at the vehicle receiver, wherein each pairing mode confidence signal provides a transmitter identification that uniquely identifies a corresponding wireless remote control device within range of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 8072309
Abstract: A supplemental control system for a materials handling vehicle comprises a wearable control device, and a corresponding receiver on the materials handling vehicle. The wearable control device is donned by an operator interacting with the materials handling vehicle, and comprises a wireless transmitter and a travel control communicably coupled to the wireless transmitter. Actuation of the travel control causes the wireless transmitter to transmit a first type signal designating a request to advance the vehicle in a first direction. The receiver is supported by the vehicle for receiving transmissions from the wireless transmitter. A traction control of the vehicle is responsive to a receipt of the first type signal by the receiver to cause the vehicle to advance.

  • Patent number: 7853267
Abstract: Wireless systems coverage planning uses propagation modeling to provide a prediction of service coverage. Accurate and effective wireless systems coverage analysis requires a measurement of signal strength and knowledge of the location corresponding to the measurement. Wireless signal strength, RSSI, can determined by measuring the signal received by a wireless mobile unit from the cell site antenna or can be determined by measuring the signal received by the antenna from a wireless mobile unit. The received signal strength is compared to the origination signal strength to determine path loss, RSSI. The location of a wireless mobile unit can be determined by a number of different methods. Wireless location systems can be handset-based or network-based. Examples of handset-based wireless location systems include enhanced global positioning systems; enhanced observed time difference; and estimated time of departure.

  • Patent number: 7689540
Abstract: A first query and a second query, both of which were submitted by a first user to identify information that satisfies a single information need of the first user, are received. The first query and the second query are stored in association with one another and based on a chronological order in which the first query and the second query were submitted by the first user to generate a first query reformulation path. A query is received from a user and more than one query reformulation path is accessed. The received query is compared with queries included in the accessed query reformulation paths to identify a relationship between the received query and a query included in a relevant query reformulation path. One or more prevalent end points is determined based on the relevant query reformulation path and at least one of the prevalent end points is presented to the user.

  • Patent number: 7654084
Abstract: A device and method for controlling the flow of a gaseous fuel from a fuel supply to a pressurized combustion chamber. A fuel pump is included in the gas train from supply to chamber. The fuel pump increases the pressure of the gas to allow efficient injection into the chamber. The pump is modulated to control the fuel flow. Both alternating current and pulse-width-modulated direct current signals may be used to control the flow. The pump may be a piston pump or a diaphragm pump. Feedback may be provided from sensors that determine operating parameters of the engine and such sensor signals may be used by the controller to maintain a parameter, such as temperature, at a specified value. An acoustic filter can be included in the gas train to significantly reduce gas flow pulsations generated by the pump. This filter improves the uniformity of the combustion process.
