  • Publication number: 20070124897
Abstract: A clamp for holding circular objects, such as pipes or conduits, includes a falcate rod portion that engages slots in a bar portion. The rod portion has a circular central section that is between a bent end and a threaded end for engaging respective of the slots. The circular section may have a cylindrical section inner surface, which may be textured, for engaging the circular object. The bar portion also has a circular central portion, for engaging the opposite side of the circular object. The clamp is installed on a circular object by placing the circular section of the bar portion against the circular object, hooking the bent end of the rod portion into one of the slots, inserting the threaded end of the rod portion through the other slot, and tightening a nut on the threaded end to secure the clamp to the circular object.

  • Publication number: 20070120025
Abstract: A structural clamp has a cast body with an open back portion or slot for receiving, in a hollow in the body, a threaded rod or bar to which the clamp is to be coupled. The body has one or more protrusions on at least one of the top and bottom surfaces of the body, to engage a first threaded fastener, which is threaded on the threaded rod. The protrusions operate to keep the first threaded fastener in place while a second threaded fastener is tightened against the opposite side of the body. In an alternative configuration, the structural clamp with the open slot or back end may have a threaded fastener secured in a recess or hollow in the clamp body by a clip that is snapped onto the clamp body. The clip may also aid in securing the threaded rod within a hollow in the clamp body.

  • Patent number: 6853842
Abstract: A system and method collects radio frequency isolation values with the assistance of mobile stations operating within a cellular wireless communication system. A broadcast channel and a broadcast cell/sector are first chosen. Then, the broadcast channel is disabled in neighboring (or all) other cells/sectors in the system. The base station servicing the broadcast cell/sector then transmits on the broadcast cell sector. Mobile stations operating within the system are then directed to measure and report the signal strength of the broadcast channel as well as a traffic channel servicing their ongoing calls. The mobile stations then report these signal strengths to the cellular wireless communication system. The signal strength measurements are then used to calculate cell/sector radio frequency isolation values between the broadcast cell/sector and respective servicing cell/sectors.

  • Patent number: 6830685
Abstract: A filter device made of less expensive material than comparable filter devices heretofore has basic filter components plus some unique design aspects and an additional ring component. The ring provides an interface inside the filter which enables the potting compound to adhere to the filter and create a seal between a first and second fluid compartment within the filter. An embedded region of the ring possesses a detailed geometry which helps ensure that a delamination would be localized and unable to propagate from the first to the second compartment, maintaining the structural integrity of the filter device. To ensure that the sealing interface remains intact and free from delamination, the ring is subjected to a surface treatment, which modifies the surface energy of the ring. This modified surface energy of the ring allows the hydrophilic potting compound to more effectively bond to the modified hydrophobic ring.

  • Publication number: 20020196152
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates to a process and system for detecting and extinguishing a spark, flame, or fire on a heat sensitive explosive object, which identifies, locates and relays vital information related to the particular endangered explosive object. The invention protects the sensitive objects, regardless of how they are heated. The invention can be used to protect any heat sensitive object from thermal damage, explosive or not. Thermal energy activates a power supply, which powers the system, including a plurality of status sensor circuits that determine the status of the source of thermal energy. Each source of thermal energy may be individually encoded to relay traits specific to the particular hazardous item, such as cook-off rate, type of energetic material and detonation temperature. Data stored in an EEPROM contains various facts regarding the source of thermal energy. Signals from the plurality of circuits and the EEPROM are relayed to an encoder.

  • Patent number: 6219554
Abstract: A Dynamic Frequency Association (“DFA”) techniques comprising fixed channel allocation (“FCA”) and distributed channel borrowing techniques using a segregation scheme is described. The DFA technique can be used autonomously to dynamically determine the best channels for a cell cluster. Additionally, a method of minimizing search delays at channel assignment by employing a channel usage history is disclosed. In one aspect, as in FCA, each cell is assigned its nominal channels, if any, from the available frequency spectrum, with a fixed radio assigned to each of these frequencies, respectively. Additionally, in accordance with the teachings of the present invention, each cell is equipped with one or more radios designated as “DFA radios”. In operation, idle DFA radios scan channels that may be borrowed in order to build a probability matrix. This enables the cell to determine which channels to use for traffic prior to actual channel request by a mobile.
