  • Publication number: 20100279536
Abstract: An electrical connector has first and second connector bodies. The first connector body has an inclined surface and the second connector body has arms that correspond to the inclined surfaces. At the end of the inclined surfaces are generally flat portions forming a ledge that prevent the connector bodies from separating. To unmate the connector bodies, one connector body is rotated relative to the other, causing the arms to move from the generally flat portion to the outer surface of the second connector to allow them to be moved axially away from one another.

  • Publication number: 20100276988
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method provide emergency differential braking for effecting braked steering of an aircraft. A brake input device is provided that not only allows for emergency and parking brake functions, but also enables differential braking. The brake input device (e.g., a parking and/or emergency brake lever, pedal, handle, etc.) can be used in a brake system including a brake system control unit (BSCU), one or more electro-mechanical actuator controllers (EMACs) and a brake assembly including one or more electrical actuators. Each EMAC is electrically coupled to one or more of the actuators so as to provide electrical power for driving the actuators. Each EMAC is also communicatively coupled to the BSCU so as to receive braking data therefrom. In an emergency, the input device sends braking signals directly to the brake actuators.

  • Publication number: 20100277792
Abstract: Image-intensifying glasses 100 are disclosed that are suitable for certain commercial and entertainment applications by virtue of their light weight, small size, and economical production, compared to certain other night vision products. In one disclosed embodiment, input light passes through two Amici prisms 144 and 148 and a field-flattening lens 150 to reach an image intensifier 152. The intensified image it produces is reflected off a first folding mirror 162, passes through a lens 154, reflects off a curved mirror 156, and passes back through the lens 154 the other way. The intensified image then passes through two additional, non-doublet lenses 158 and 160, between which an intermediate image exists. The intensified image then reflects off the “lens,” or visor 130, of the glasses and proceeds to the pupil of eye 131 of the wearer. Alternative embodiments use a helmet visor, mirror, or other (at least partially) reflective surface for the final reflection.

  • Publication number: 20100280348
Abstract: In an implantable medical device for monitoring glucose concentration in the blood, a blood-glucose concentration analysis is performed using correlations of blood-glucose concentration with measures of metabolic oxygen consumption including oxymetric, and/or temperature. Analysis of electrocardiographic data is used in a parallel method to detect and/or confirm the onset and/or existence and/or extent of hypoglycemia and/or hyperglycemia. Blood-glucose concentration calculation is enhanced by using the combination of the oxygen metabolism analysis and electrocardiographic analysis.

  • Publication number: 20100280960
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methodologies are provided that facilitate negotiating discount offers. Mobile devices are equipped to detect product identification data from a barcode or RFID tag. The product identification data can be wirelessly transmitted to a discount negotiator which calculates a discount offer for the product and sends a discount offer back to the mobile device while the customer is considering whether to purchase the product. The discount negotiator calculates the discount offers based on a set of rules which may account for one or more factors, including the expiration date of a product, the quantity being purchased, product bundling, and/or the like.
