  • Publication number: 20100278000
Abstract: In memory circuitry, to ensure that a memory device, such as a DDR3 RDIMM, safely operates in self-refresh mode while the memory controller is powered down and off, the memory device's clock enable (CKE) input is connected to both (i) the CKE signal applied by the memory controller and (ii) a termination voltage provided by the power module. To power down the memory controller, the memory controller drives the CKE signal low, then the power module drives the termination voltage low, then the power module powers down the memory controller. To resume normal operations, the power module powers up the memory controller, then the memory controller drives the CKE signal low, then the power module powers up the termination voltage. By holding the termination voltage low, the memory circuitry ensures that the memory device stays in self-refresh mode while the memory device is powered down and off.

  • Publication number: 20100280909
Abstract: A payment gateway is implemented as a web service that utilizes a payment adapter plug-in model to support both synchronous payments (e.g., credit/debit card payments) and asynchronous payments (e.g., bank transfers) in which an interface to the payment gateway is provided to facilitate the development by a payment service provider or third party of a payment adapter that can plug into the gateway. The payment adapter enables the details of the payment service provider, credit card network, bank, etc. to be abstracted by mapping payment status from the provider to a standardized payment status that is utilized by the payment gateway. A payment gateway can then switch payment service providers by switching payment adapters.

  • Publication number: 20100281060
Abstract: A method and storage media for performing access resolution using ACL types is provided. Under an AND semantic, an intersection set formed from the types of multiple ACLs protecting a resource may be utilized to efficiently determine whether a request for a privilege to access the resource is granted or denied. If the privilege is not a member of the intersection set, the privilege cannot be granted. A union set may be used for an OR semantic. A global ACL type may represent all privileges system-wide or application-wide. A global ACL may represent a system-wide or application-wide access policy. A conjunction of a global ACL and a regular ACL may be stored in a cache. The union set, intersection set, or access resolution may also be cached for subsequent request processing.

  • Publication number: 20100281473
Abstract: An automated arrangement for deploying software updates to a distributed system based on state differences is provided in which a manifest defines a target snapshot of the desired state of the system after it is updated. A snapshot of the current distributed system state is taken and a state difference between the current state and the target state is calculated. A rule-based engine applies pre-defined rules to generate a sequence of actions that when performed will bring the distributed system to the target state. Accordingly, rather than have to focus on how to change the distributed system, software developers and system administrators may instead specify the target distributed system state in the manifest and the present automated deployment arrangement will perform the required actions to deploy the updates and achieve the desired state.

  • Publication number: 20100279030
Abstract: A decorative architectural glass panel comprises a two or more glass sheets separated by a resin in which one or more decorative objects are suspended. A method of making the glass panel comprises positioning one or more spacers and one or more decorative objects on a first glass sheet, placing a second glass sheet about the first glass sheet, sealing the edges of the first glass sheet and second glass sheet, and filling the space between the first and second glass sheets with a curable liquid resin. The resin can be poured using a substantially horizontal pour in order to keep the decorative objects from substantially shifting when pouring the liquid resin. The resin can also be poured in combination with a vacuum force. In some implementations, the glass panel may also be substituted with a resin panel using polymeric resin sheets.
