  • Patent number: 6466257
Abstract: A method and tool for measurement of the roll static attitude and y-misalignment of magnetic recording sliders within the head stack assembly having reference elements placed on the deposited end of the magnetic recording slider, which are optically analyzed by a video camera connected to a computer. For fast measurement the head stack assembly is clamped in a fixture mounted on motorized stages, which move each slider into the measurement position. In a two step imaging and analyzing process, the orientation and location of one or more edges of the reference element are computed and compared with known control parameters.

  • Patent number: 6297070
Abstract: The optimization of two technologies (CMOS and CCD) wherein a pinned photodiode is integrated into the image sensing element of an active pixel sensor. Pinned photodiodes are fabricated with CCD process steps into the active pixel architecture. Charge integrated within the active pixel pinned photodiode is transferred into the charge sensing node by a transfer gate. The floating diffusion is coupled CMOS circuitry that can provide the addressing capabilities of individual pixels. Alternatively, a buried channel photocapacitor can be used in place of the pinned photodiode.

  • Patent number: 6216153
Abstract: A system and method for displaying and processing information on a computer or communicating with a remote server is disclosed. The method and system include providing a browser and providing a thin server. The browser is configured to allow a user to view information and enter information. The thin server is for communicating with the browser, for allowing the browser to display information provided from the thin server, and for allowing the browser to provide information entered by the user to the thin server. In one aspect, the thin server is not substantially extensible. In another aspect, the thin server is configured to accept a connection only from the browser. The thin server allows communication between the browser and a remote server through communication between the browser and the thin server and communication between the remote server and the thin server. In yet another aspect, the method and system further include providing at least one local resource.

  • Patent number: 5703642
Abstract: The present invention teaches how to maintain temporally the increased collection region (depletion depth) of detectors within a solid-state image sensor. A novel clocking method is used to control charge transfer within charge coupled devices to reduce cross talk with a resulting improvement in the MTF and quantum efficiency. Specifically, the present invention employs a pulsing type of clocking technique wherein the duty cycle is adjusted to maximize the depletion region. These pulses are spaced equally from phase to phase within the multiphase clocking scheme. The present invention is specifically designed for high speed CCD devices in which improvements in the MTF and QE are desired. Time Delay Integration (TDI) image sensors are such devices that have high speed characteristics as a common requirement and the application of the present invention to these devices is discussed.

  • Patent number: 4081613
Abstract: An arrangement for providing signalling to the lines of a telecommunications system employing non-metallic switching crosspoints such as a solid state switching network or time division switching network. In a system employing either type of network, line signalling such as ringing, coin control signalling, wire chief testing, and such other signals which are essentially high voltage signals cannot readily be transmitted through the switching network. The present system as disclosed provides an arrangement employing a common, multiplex highway between one or more signal sources and the line circuits. Operation of a switching element such as a relay in a line circuit selected by the common control completes a metallic path from the source bus to the selected line through closed contacts of the relay. In addition, signals of one or more different types may be multiplexed within a signal cycle to produce signals to a number of lines during the period when one line is being signalled.

  • Patent number: 4077048
Abstract: An optical diffractometer is disclosed in which there is provided a television camera system for displaying light patterns derived from the image plane or the transform plane of the diffractometer. The camera system includes a modulating network for providing a pseudo three dimensional display by mixing signals from the X ramp and Y ramp generators together and by mixing the signal from the Y ramp generator with a signal representative of the television camera beam current. The mixed signals are applied to the X and Y plates of a cathode ray tube to provide a display of the signals.
