  • Patent number: 9560184
Abstract: A method of rejecting a Bluetooth communications request is disclosed. A portable device receives a Bluetooth communications request from a computing device. The communications request includes a device identification of the computing device. A list of trusted device identifications stored in a memory resource of the portable device is automatically accessed. The Bluetooth communications request is rejected in response to determining that the device identification is not in the list of trusted device identifications.

  • Patent number: 9542815
Abstract: A banking system is controlled responsive, at least in part, to data read from data bearing records. The banking system includes an automated banking machine. The machine is operable to carry out a financial transaction responsive to a determination that data read from a data bearing record, such as a card that is read by a card reader in the machine, corresponds to stored information for an authorized user or financial account. The machine is operable to receive and dispense documents. The machine includes a check acceptor that is operative to receive checks and a cash dispenser that is operative to dispense cash. Document holding cassettes in the machine include circuitry that is wirelessly powered through inductive coupling. The machine can wirelessly read data from a cassette through use of induction.

  • Patent number: 8917459
Abstract: An ergonomic vertical redirection vision system comprises glasses or goggles with lenses modified to include a fresnel prism that vertically redirects light. The curved fresnel prism is a novel curved refractive element with unique advantages compared to a flat fresnel prism. The curved fresnel prism may be achromatized by the addition of an appropriate diffractive surface thereby creating a hybrid achromat or diffractive/refractive optical element (DROE). Looking through the modified eyewear will redirect the user's visual field up or down, depending on the configuration. Upward vision redirection improves ergonomics and aerodynamics for several sports including bicycle riding, swimming, downhill ski racing, and motorcycle racing. Downward vision redirection improves the ergonomics of reading a book, working on a laptop or pad computer, or taking notes in a class.

  • Patent number: 8676897
Abstract: A method and apparatus for collaborative chatting on a plurality of hand held computer systems are disclosed. A Bluetooth communication may be established among several hand held computer systems. A participants list may be cached from previous sessions, eliminating a typical step of discovery. Collaborative chatting software may be automatically initiated on the hand held systems in the group. Information entered by any member of the group may be displayed in substantially real time on all hand held computer systems. Information may be color coded to identify its source. In this novel manner, collaborative chatting on a plurality of hand held computer systems may occur, resulting in richer, more efficient and more secure communication between group members.
