  • Publication number: 20040194009
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically understanding, decomposing, extracting, validating and reformatting unstructured tabular information into intermediate structured representations of the information contained therein are described. No constraints are placed on the origin or format of these documents when originally submitted. Furthermore, no pre-created scripts are required to map the information contained in the submitted documents. The systems and methods of this invention generally comprise obtaining an electronic document, automatically analyzing and understanding the contents of the document, extracting information from the document, categorizing the information, and then creating an intermediate structured representation of the information contained therein. The intermediate structured representations may then be easily converted for use in a myriad of back-end systems.

  • Publication number: 20040193433
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically decomposing table-structured electronic documents are described. The systems and methods of this invention generally comprise utilizing mathematical relationships, together with textual and positional clues to the mathematical relationships, in a collaborative manner, to derive a mathematical construct of the table-structured document. Embodiments of this invention automatically process a multitude of table-structured documents, thereby eliminating the need for human interaction with such documents in many cases and lowering the costs associated with processing such documents.

  • Publication number: 20040193520
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically understanding and decomposing unstructured tabular information are described. No constraints are placed on the origin or format of these documents when originally submitted; the documents may be in an unstructured and/or nonstandard format, and they may be electronic or flat files. The systems and methods of this invention generally comprise obtaining an electronic ASCII-formatted document, analyzing and understanding the contents of the document, and decomposing the information contained in the document, utilizing a variety of algorithms and heuristics to do this. Embodiments of this invention automatically process a multitude of financial documents, thereby eliminating the need for human interaction with such documents in many cases and lowering the costs associated with processing such documents.

  • Patent number: 6744699
Abstract: An electronic module for regulation of a watch movement with mechanical winding includes a generator (1) permitting converting the mechanical energy supplied by the mechanical watch movement into a measuring signal (G+;G−) and an electronic circuit (11) supplied by the generator. The electronic circuit includes an energy dissipation circuit (9) permitting applying at least two separate braking couples more than zero to the generator (1). The electronic circuit (11) also includes a counter to control the braking circuit. The braking couple selected by the control circuit depends on the advance of the generator and is reduced, without being suppressed, when the measuring signal (G+;G−) passes through an extreme.

  • Patent number: 6572569
Abstract: A sexual aid device comprising a battery powered electric vibrator which attaches to the user's tongue. The first embodiment attaches to the tongue using a post (18) which is inserted through a hole previously pierced in the tongue. The assembled device is shaped roughly like a dumbbell consisting of a post (18) with retainers mounted at either end. Post (18) has a diameter narrow enough to fit through the tongue hole, but the retainers have larger diameter and cannot slip through the hole. An electric vibrator motor (14) is incorporated into one of the retainers. At least one of the retainers must be removable to allow device insertion. An electric battery (13) may be mounted in the same retainer as the vibrator motor (14) or in the other retainer. • Patent number: 5828848
Abstract: A video image data field to be compression-encoded is divided into rectangular blocks. Each of the rectangular blocks is compared with a corresponding block of a reference image to generate comparison data. The block of the image to be encoded is selected for representation if the comparison data for the block meets a selection criterion. Mapping data is generated which is indicative of locations in the image plane corresponding to the selected blocks. The image to be encoded is represented in compressed form by header data, the mapping data and image data representative of the selected blocks.

  • Patent number: RE35920
Abstract: Apparatus that is carried on a land vehicle, a marine vehicle or vessel, or an airborne vehicle or vessel for notifying others that a vehicle accident or other abnormal situation has occurred and for notifying others of the location of the vehicle at the time of the accident. The vehicle carries an distance measuring system (DMS) signal antenna and receiver/processor that receives DMS-type signals from one or more DMS signal broadcasters and determines the present position of the vehicle, plus an activatable transmitter. The vehicle also carries an abnormality sensing means that senses the occurrence of an accident or other abnormal situation involving the vehicle or a vehicle occupant. When an abnormal situation is sensed, the abnormality sensing means automatically activates the transmitter, which then communicates the fact that an abnormal situation has occurred and the location of the vehicle at the time the event occurred.
