  • Patent number: 10370003
Abstract: A response vehicle includes an engine, a transmission coupled to the engine, a pumping system operatively engaged with the transmission and thereby configured to at least selectively receive mechanical energy generated by the engine via the transmission, and a central controller communicably coupled to the engine, transmission, and pumping system. The pumping system has an input configured to interface with a water source and receive an inlet flow of water. The central controller is configured to receive an indication regarding the pressure of the water at the input of the pumping system, and transmit a control signal to the transmission to change an effective gear ratio of the transmission while the transmission is operably coupled to the pumping system based on the received indication regarding the pressure of the water at the input of the pumping system.

  • Publication number: 20180293818
Abstract: A response vehicle includes a vehicle subsystem, a sensor configured to monitor the vehicle subsystem and provide a sensor signal corresponding thereto, a detector configured to receive an identification signal from a piece of equipment, a display, and a vehicle management system. The vehicle management system is configured to receive the sensor signal from the sensor, generate a vehicle subsystem display dataset based on the received sensor signal, transmit the vehicle subsystem display dataset to the display to present the user with a graphical representation of the sensor signal, receive the identification signal from the detector, generate an inventory display dataset based at least in part on the received identification signal, and transmit the inventory display dataset to the display to present the user with an equipment inventory interface.

  • Publication number: 20180289999
Abstract: A fire apparatus includes an engine, a water tank configured to store water, an agent tank configured to store a fire suppressing agent, a fuel tank configured to store a fuel used to power the engine, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit is configured to monitor the fluid level data indicating at least one of a water level within the water tank, a fire suppressing agent level within the agent tank, and a fuel level within the fuel tank; monitor fault data indicating any active faults of the fire apparatus; monitor maintenance data indicating whether maintenance is due; monitor exercise data indicating an elapsed time since the fire apparatus was last exercised; determine a readiness score based on the fluid level data, fault data, maintenance data, and exercise data; and at least one of transmit the readiness score to (i) a display device and (ii) a remote server.

  • Publication number: 20180215354
Abstract: A vehicle includes a chassis, a body including a cab and a rear assembly, the body coupled to the chassis, a sensor system, and a control system. The sensor system is positioned to acquire stability data regarding a stability characteristic of the vehicle at a current location. The stability characteristic includes at least one of a slope, a grade, and a jackknife angle of the vehicle. The control system is configured to determine whether the stability characteristic is within an operational range or a nonoperational range and provide (i) an indication that the vehicle is reconfigurable at the current location into a state whereby the vehicle is operable at the current location in response to determining that the stability characteristic is within the operational range or (ii) an indication that the vehicle is not operable at the current location in response to determining that the stability characteristic is within the nonoperational range.

  • Publication number: 20180215597
Abstract: A fire apparatus includes a chassis, a ladder assembly having a proximal end pivotably coupled to the chassis, and a basket pivotably coupled to a distal end of the ladder assembly. The basket includes a floor panel coupled to a top surface of a subfloor assembly. The subfloor assembly includes a front member and a rear member each extending in a first direction, an inner member extending from the front member to the rear member, an outer member having a first end portion coupled to the rear member, and an angled member extending from a second end portion of the outer member to the front member. The front member and the rear member are offset a distance from one another in a second direction. The outer member is shorter than the distance such that the angled member extends at an angle relative to the front member.

  • Patent number: 7389826
Abstract: A vehicular firefighting system includes a vehicle, a boom pivotally coupled to the vehicle about a horizontal axis and a nozzle pivotally coupled to the boom. In one embodiment, the system includes a linkage having a first end coupled to the nozzle and a second end coupled to the vehicle such that the linkage maintains an orientation of the nozzle as the boom pivots about the horizontal axis. In another embodiment, the boom forms at least one fluid conduit in fluid communication with the nozzle so as to deliver firefighting agent to the nozzle.
