  • Patent number: 9480801
Abstract: A pre-filled syringe assembly having a tamper evident tip cap is provided for indicating if the contents of the syringe assembly have been compromised. The syringe barrel has an interior chamber which defines a pressure therein and is sealed at the proximal and distal ends by a first and second seal, respectively, to maintain this pressure. The second seal is formed of a deformable material and a tip cap is located about the second seal and distal end of the syringe barrel. This tip cap includes a viewable indicator representing a change in state of the syringe contents. The indicator has a portion positioned in contact with the second seal such that the first distinguishing feature is viewable through a portion of the cap. Tampering of the contents within the interior chamber causes a change in pressure and movement of the indicator indicating tampering of the syringe assembly.

  • Publication number: 20160184531
Abstract: An injection aid for use with an injection device, such as a safety syringe, for example, is disclosed. The injection aid employs a flexible clip-based design to compensate for manufacturing tolerances associated with the injection device. The injection aid includes a body and a lever mounted to the body, the lever being configured to rotate about the body. The injection aid may further include gears rotate with rotation of the lever, and which function to remove a needle shield from the injection device. The body positions the injection device so as to ensure consistent injection depth.

  • Patent number: 9295783
Abstract: A syringe assembly includes a syringe barrel having an exterior surface, an inside surface defining a chamber, an open proximal end, a distal end, and an outlet disposed adjacent the distal end in fluid communication with the chamber; and a plunger assembly disposed at least partially within the syringe barrel. The plunger assembly includes an elongated plunger rod and a plunger head. The elongated plunger rod is associated with the plunger head to move the plunger head within the chamber of the syringe barrel through an injection cycle. The plunger rod is adapted to move from a collapsed position extending alongside the exterior surface of the syringe barrel to an extended position engaging the plunger head to move the plunger head through the injection cycle.

  • Publication number: 20140142517
Abstract: A syringe assembly having a flexible and/or slidable flange is provided, wherein in a pre-use or packaged state, the flange is positioned substantially parallel to a barrel of the syringe assembly resulting in the syringe assembly having a smaller packaging footprint. The smaller packaging footprint allows for reduced storage space of the syringe assembly. Upon removal from a packaging and/or storage space, the flange can be slid and locked into place such that it extends in a perpendicular direction with respect to a longitudinal axis of the barrel of the syringe assembly to allow for traditional operation of the syringe assembly.

  • Patent number: 8636702
Abstract: A syringe assembly having a collapsible or pivotable plunger rod with magnification properties is provided. In a pre-use or packaged state, the plunger rod is positioned substantially parallel to a barrel of the syringe assembly resulting in the syringe assembly having a reduced length and a smaller packaging footprint. The smaller packaging footprint allows for reduced storage space of the syringe assembly. Upon removal from a packaging and/or a storage space, the plunger rod can be slid or pivoted toward a proximal end of the syringe barrel and locked into place such that the syringe assembly is ready for use. The plunger rod can be shaped to provide magnification to indicia of the syringe barrel and/or contents. Alternatively, a separate magnification member can be associated with the plunger rod and/or secured about the syringe barrel.

  • Publication number: 20130018325
Abstract: A flange extender for use with an injection device is described. The flange extender includes first and second flange extender pieces and a locking mechanism to lock the first and second flange extender pieces to one another. In one embodiment, the locking mechanism includes each piece having a locking finger extending from the piece and an aperture adapted to receive the locking finger. The first and second flange extender pieces extend in a direction transverse to a main axis of the injection device to thereby provide a surface area for manual manipulation of the injection device during an injection. The first and second flange extender pieces also attach to each other on opposite sides of the injection device.

Abstract: A syringe and detachable needle assembly having binary attachment features include an elongate syringe barrel having a longitudinal axis, an open proximal end and an open distal end including a collar. The collar includes the cylindrically shaped sidewall having an inside surface and an outside surface. A needle assembly includes the hub having a body portion including a proximal end, a distal end and a conduit therethrough. A cannula having a distal end, a proximal end and a lumen therethrough is attached to the distal end of the hub so that the lumen is in fluid communication with the chamber. A lug is provided on one of the collar and the hub and a ramp and a rest surface is provided on the other of the collar and the hub. The ramp is oriented at an acute angle with respect to longitudinal axis for guiding the lug during needle assembly attachment, to the rest surface forcing the hub to contact the barrel to form a seal the hub and the barrel.
