Patent number: 9480801Abstract: A pre-filled syringe assembly having a tamper evident tip cap is provided for indicating if the contents of the syringe assembly have been compromised. The syringe barrel has an interior chamber which defines a pressure therein and is sealed at the proximal and distal ends by a first and second seal, respectively, to maintain this pressure. The second seal is formed of a deformable material and a tip cap is located about the second seal and distal end of the syringe barrel. This tip cap includes a viewable indicator representing a change in state of the syringe contents. The indicator has a portion positioned in contact with the second seal such that the first distinguishing feature is viewable through a portion of the cap. Tampering of the contents within the interior chamber causes a change in pressure and movement of the indicator indicating tampering of the syringe assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2010Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: Becton Dickinson FranceInventors: Eric Schiller, Frederic Perot

Publication number: 20160184531Abstract: An injection aid for use with an injection device, such as a safety syringe, for example, is disclosed. The injection aid employs a flexible clip-based design to compensate for manufacturing tolerances associated with the injection device. The injection aid includes a body and a lever mounted to the body, the lever being configured to rotate about the body. The injection aid may further include gears rotate with rotation of the lever, and which function to remove a needle shield from the injection device. The body positions the injection device so as to ensure consistent injection depth.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2014Publication date: June 30, 2016Inventors: Eric Schiller, Prashant Kakade, Hiroo Noguchi, Takuji Harada, Hideo Fukushima

Patent number: 8636702Abstract: A syringe assembly having a collapsible or pivotable plunger rod with magnification properties is provided. In a pre-use or packaged state, the plunger rod is positioned substantially parallel to a barrel of the syringe assembly resulting in the syringe assembly having a reduced length and a smaller packaging footprint. The smaller packaging footprint allows for reduced storage space of the syringe assembly. Upon removal from a packaging and/or a storage space, the plunger rod can be slid or pivoted toward a proximal end of the syringe barrel and locked into place such that the syringe assembly is ready for use.
