  • Publication number: 20050107586
Abstract: The present invention overcomes problems in the prior art of updating/upgrading remote control to include functions and/or abilities nor originally planned when the remote control was being designed/manufactured. A set-top device itself can be an updated device which can be bundled with an outdated remote control. The set-top can provide a remote teacher display or such a display can be made available from a distance via the internet or satellite. In such a case, a remote control can be used to select a specific on-screen display button from the remote teacher. The corresponding remote control code is then taught to a learning remote control by a blaster which serves as a substitute for a teaching remote control in order to teach and/or update/upgrade the learning remote control.

  • Patent number: 6548348
Abstract: A process for increasing the surface area of a DRAM capacitor structure via definition of a capacitor in a porous insulator layer, wherein the porous insulator layer is comprised with voids, has been developed. The process features the use of an anisotropic dry etch procedure to form a capacitor opening in a porous insulator layer, exposing a portion of the voids located on the sides of the capacitor opening extending into the porous insulator layer. An isotropic wet etch is then used to enlarge the surface area of the exposed voids, allowing the surface area for a subsequently formed, overlying storage node structure, to be increased.

  • Patent number: 6230789
Abstract: The present invention provides a heat dissipating device and a method for making the same. The heat dissipating device includes an aluminum flat base plate integrally forming a number of studs thereon, an aluminum folded fin with a number of inverted U-shaped heat dissipating fins connecting with each by bottom partitions. Each partition defines a number of holes. Thermal grease is uniformly spread on a bottom of each partition. In manufacturing the heat dissipating device, the folded fin is firstly mounted to the base plate to a position that the studs extend through the holes in the partitions. The studs are then subject to pressing operation to fixedly connect the folded fin and the base plate together, whereby the thermal grease entirely fill the gaps between the partitions and the base plate to enable heat absorbed by the base plate to be effectively dissipated by the inverted U-shaped heat dissipating fins.
