  • Patent number: 6279891
Abstract: A processing line for printed products 18 which comprises a number of component modules 10, 12, 14, 34, 36, 46 which are arranged directly one behind the other in the direction of processing V. The printed products are supplied to the line at sequential locations so that the products are processing and/or combined to form intermediate or end products which are delivered to a removal location. The printed products are conveyed along the processing line by a conveyor 20, 20′. The component modules can be separated from one another, and the conveyor is composed of conveying elements 98 which can be separated when the component modules are separated such that at least one conveying element remains in each of the component modules.

  • Patent number: 6173555
Abstract: Discrete lengths of a web (1) of sample bags are each arranged in a container in an ordered manner such that each web can be removed from its container (13) without additional aids by pulling on a head end (A) of the web length, and so that the tail end (E) of each such web length can also be gripped without changing the web arrangement in the container and independently of the fullness of the container. For feeding sample bags into a processing station, a first container is positioned in the region of the feeding location and the head end (A) of the web length is pulled out of its container and led to a feeding mechanism of the processing station. During the feeding of the first web length of bags into the processing, further containers are formed into a series of containers by connecting the tail end (E) of the web in one container to the head end (A) of a web length in the following container.

  • Patent number: 6095510
Abstract: A printed product (70) is produced from a plurality of product parts (71, 73, 75) consisting each of a plurality of sheets folded inside each other, by collating the folded product parts in a stack and by stitching the stack along a stitching line running parallel to the spine of the product with a distance from the spine chosen such that the innermost sheet of each product part is fixed by the stitching. Between the product parts (71, 73, 75) and/or on the outer sides of the stack of product parts, additional products (72, 74) and/or cover leafs or cover sheets may be added and fixed to the product parts with the same stitching.

  • Patent number: 6017027
Abstract: Flexible, sheet products which are to be opened have a first product part and a second product part. The product parts are connected to one another at a connecting edge, and the first product part has a border region which projects beyond the second product part. The products are conveyed with a leading edge running obliquely with respect to the conveying direction. An end section of the leading edge abuts a fixed stop wherein the first product part is arched in a lateral corner region. This results in the second product part lifting off from the first product part so as to define an opening. As the products are further conveyed, a holding-open element is inserted into the opening to maintain the first product part separate from the second product part. After the arching operation, the first product part springs over the stop and is further conveyed with the second product part.

  • Patent number: 5944189
Abstract: Sample bags are produced from webs of film material by forming longitudinal seams and longitudinally spaced transverse seams and by filling the bags with a sample product between forming the transverse seams. In order to make the bags easier to handle, the longitudinal seams are thickened so that the thickness of the seams is equal to the thickness of the center of the bag. Thickening is done by rolling or folding the seams or by adding frames or strips of additional material either between or outside the seam or interior portions of the webs. The resulting bags are more easily stacked, handled and inserted into publications for distribution.
