  • Publication number: 20160180166
Abstract: Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, methods, data structures, and software for document image processing within a device such as a retail scanner. One such embodiment, in the form of a method, includes receiving a document image from an imaging device of a scanner and determining a type of the document represented in the document image. The document image may then be processed to obtain document metadata and the document image and metadata representative of the document metadata and document type are added to a data structure. This method may further include adding transaction-related metadata to the data structure. The data structure may then be stored on the scanner, transmitted via local communications link to a host device, transmitted via a network to a database for storage, or transmitted via a network to another system for one or both of processing and storage.

  • Publication number: 20160127391
Abstract: Events are securely packaged and transmitted from peripherals of terminals and from secure input/out modules (SIOMs) of terminals. The events are collected and mined in real time for security risk patterns and dynamic remedial actions are pushed back down to the terminals, peripherals, and SIOMs.

  • Publication number: 20160063227
Abstract: Input streams are automatically and continuously evaluated in a passive manner from sensors and resources of a device. The streams are weighted and aggregated to produce single confidence values. A current single confidence value is used to passively authenticate a user for access to the device or to one or more resources of the device when the user attempts access.

  • Publication number: 20160063492
Abstract: Data is automatically collected; the data relevant to user attributes. That data is provided as factors for passive authenticating the user for access to a device and/or a resource. In an embodiment, the data is used to establish a profile or a pattern for the user.

  • Publication number: 20160063503
Abstract: Sensors provide sensor data continuously from a device. The sensor data is continuously processed as factors to generate a confidence value for authentication. The confidence value is compared to a predetermined threshold value or predetermined range of values to determine whether a user is to be authenticated for access to one or more of: a device, a resource, and a transaction operation for a transaction.

  • Publication number: 20160063471
Abstract: Resource attributes for resources are continuously and regularly collected from hardware and software resources of one or more devices. The resource attributes are continuously fed to one or more confidence calculators. At any given point in time, a single confidence value is provided to an authentication for making a decision as to whether to authenticate a user for access to a particular resource.

  • Publication number: 20150309488
Abstract: Various embodiments each include at least one of systems, methods, and software to detect possible fuel theft and to provide notification thereof. In a simple embodiment, data from a fuel pump is obtained, either directly or via a fuel pump controller, by a fuel station site controller and stored. The stored data includes a measure of a total amount of fuel dispensed from the fuel pump, such as may be measured by a fuel pump feedstock meter. At a time when the site controller reestablishes data communication with the fuel pump controller after a loss, the site controller receives a fuel pump data update. The updated data is then compared to the stored measure. When there is a mismatch, a possible fuel theft has occurred and an alarm process may be triggered.

  • Publication number: 20150235192
Abstract: Techniques for automated transactions are provided. A customer uses a mobile device to interact with a self-service checkout device (SSCO) to perform a transaction. Initially, a unique barcode for the transaction is generated and displayed to the customer, via an attract screen of the SSCO. The mobile device scans the barcode (can be a QR code); this causes the mobile device to communicate with a remote server that identifies the customer. Preferences for the customer are retrieved and the transaction and features of the SSCO are configured based on the preferences. The transaction proceeds with the configured preferences.

  • Publication number: 20150039392
Abstract: Techniques for retail location-aware services are provided. A consumer defines parameters in which it is acceptable to the consumer to receive an offer for a good or service. When the parameters are achievable for an enterprise and when the consumer is in a configured proximity to the desired good or service, the mobile device of the consumer is notified of the offer.

  • Patent number: 8912883
Abstract: A customer uses a wireless portable device to interact with a remote cloud-based car rental service. Details at check in are recorded and the customer is authorized to take possession of the car. At checkout, additional details are noted, a receipt is produced, and the customer leaves the car at the car facility. The check-in and checkout process can be achieved without any car rental attendant. That is, the customer via the wireless portable device and with the assistance of the remote cloud-based car rental service completely achieves check in and checkout for a car rental.

  • Patent number: 8672221
Abstract: A system and method of securely delivering and verifying a mobile boarding pass which validates the mobile boarding pass. An example method includes receiving boarding pass data for a traveler, creating a digital certificate containing the boarding pass data, encrypting the digital certificate, encoding a series of different encrypted digital certificates into a series of different two-dimensional barcodes, providing the series of different two-dimensional barcodes to a mobile communication device of the traveler in advance of arrival at a security checkpoint, receiving decoded barcode data in one or more of the two-dimensional barcodes from a barcode reader at the security checkpoint, decrypting the decoded barcode data using the plurality of different tokens, and identifying a valid digital certificate containing boarding pass data in the decoded barcode data.

  • Publication number: 20130124411
Abstract: Techniques for automated transactions are provided. A customer pre-stages a financial transaction with a financial service. Subsequently, the customer visits an ATM and automatically acquires a code from the ATM that is then sent to a mobile transaction service for verification and to identify the staged financial transaction. The ATM interacts with the customer via the mobile device and interacts with the financial service to complete the transaction for the customer at the ATM.
