  • Patent number: 6157845
Abstract: A method and device are provided for of supporting a plurality of mobile station operation modes in a wireless communication system by user control. Presently, communication protocols exist for supporting end user equipment which operates in a single mode of operation. However, it is desirable to combine protocols from various technologies to form end user equipment which operates in multiple modes of operation. Thereby, the present method allows the mobile station to operate in a multi-mode environment where a user can invoke a certain mode.

  • Patent number: 5935352
Abstract: A process for production of a steel component having a hard, carbon rich dissolved surface and a tough, low carbon dissolved core, incorporating the following steps:using an alloyed steel with a carbon content of 0.3%-1.2% C and with an alloy element acting as a strong carbide former; andsubjecting a component formed from this material to induction heating, whereby the core is heated to a level in the lower region of the austenite area, thereby creating a certain dissolved low carbon level in the component core, and rapidly heating the surface region to a higher region within the austenite area, thereby creating a high dissolved carbon content in the surface region of the component.

  • Patent number: 5921105
Abstract: In a cooling unit for an absorption circuit, an absorber, a generator, a condenser, and an evaporator are provided. The absorber is built by at least two mutually connected profiled plates which form lines and ports for connecting the generator to the evaporator. The lines are guided in a meander pattern and two adjacent lines are mutually connected through at least one opening. The absorber can be pivoted by an at least partial inclination of the lines with respect to horizon from a neutral position by an axis extending in parallel to the plate plane by more than 3.degree., preferably more than 6.degree., without the operation of the cooling unit being impeded by the rotation of the plates. This permits the cooling unit to be used on mobile vehicles and boats where frequent inclined positions occur.

  • Patent number: 5805429
Abstract: The invention relates to a rail assembly adapted for an earth potential related magazine (1) which is constructed to accommodate a plurality of printed circuit boards, circuit boards having circuit components mounted thereon, or printed boards. An electrical contact rail (3b) has a U-shaped cross section wherein a first leg (41) is provided with a row of tongues whose outer parts are bent towards the second leg such as to form a row of electrical contact points (41c) which are intended for electrical coaction with an earth potential related layer on the circuit board, and wherein the bottom rail part (43) extending between the legs is provided with a plurality of mutually sequential contact tongues whose outer parts form a row or electrical contact points which are intended to lie against electrical contact surfaces (1b) belonging to and assigned to the magazine at a chosen contact pressure when the rail assembly is fitted, so as to obtain an earth potential relationship.

  • Patent number: 5806007
Abstract: A method and device are provided for controlling an activity mode of a mobile station after the system has originated or terminated a transaction with the mobile station. The activity mode corresponds to whether the mobile station stays "awake" or goes into a sleep mode, which must be made known to the system. If the mobile station does not immediately go to the sleep mode, the base station can expect the mobile station to be reading all slots. If the mobile station is in the sleep mode, the mobile station only reads its assigned paging slots. The mobile station may not go to the sleep mode until a selected amount of activity time has expired; during the activity time, the mobile station continues to read all slots. As a result, the mobile station can immediately receive packets, thereby saving set-up time which increases the response time of the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 5805569
Abstract: A packet switching network having a malfunction list is provided to reduce network congestion. According to an exemplary embodiment, each node in the network includes a malfunction list which stores an unavailability value representing a state of unavailability of certain addressees in the network. Before sending a packet to an addressee, the node consults its own malfunction list to determine the unavailability value of the addressee. A packet addressed to an unavailable addressee is selectively returned to the sender by the node rather than travelling through the network to the addressee and back through the network to the sender. Packets can be returned to the sender with a probability proportional to the unavailability value of the addressee so that transmission is gradually resumed after a state of unavailability as the unavailability value decreases over time.

  • Patent number: 5768267
Abstract: A method for registering a mobile station when the mobile station first enters a communication system which supports packet data channels is disclosed. The mobile station receives system information broadcasted on a digital control channel. The mobile station is then assigned to a beacon packet data channel over which the mobile station registers with the communication system.

  • Patent number: 5755166
Abstract: In a power plant with combustion of particulate fuel in a fluidized bed, unburnt particles are after-burnt in a burner which is based on the principle of vortex collapse and coarser particles are separated in connection with the after-burning. Such a burner may be designed as a double-cone burner, wherein unburnt fuel particles are burnt. Larger particles move around in a helical movement inside the extension of the burner cone. A coarse particles separator integrated with the burner, is arranged and comprises a circular gap which is located near the extension of the burner cone and which collects coarser particles rotating at the side of the combustion zone of the burner. These separated particles, collected by the circular gap, are forwarded to a space which surrounds the burner and from where the separated coarser particles are returned to the primary combustion space, for example, to the fluidized bed in the plant.

  • Patent number: 5729531
Abstract: A method for reassigning mobile stations a new phase within a channel is disclosed. In a communication system, a plurality of mobile stations attempt to communicate on a limited number of channels. The invention first uses a general allocation method to approximately evenly distribute the mobile stations on the available channels. After a mobile station begins active communication on the system, a second allocation method is used to change the phase of some mobile stations on a channel which has become heavily loaded. In addition, a message can also be sent to mobile stations assigned to but not yet actively communicating on the heavily loaded channel indicating that the mobile stations should change to a new channel.
