  • Publication number: 20200080270
Abstract: A soil probing device includes comprises a probing rod with a measuring probe, a driving means for penetrating the probing rod into the ground, generators for generating acoustic compression and shear waves into the ground, detectors for detecting the said generated acoustic compression and shear waves. The detectors are built into the measuring probe. Also the generators are built into the measuring probe at positions that are interspaced at fixed distances in a z-direction from the detectors in the measuring probe. A processing unit CPU is provided for calculating velocities of the generated acoustic compression and shear waves that get to travel from the generators towards the detectors through local ground layers that lie adjacent the measuring probe in between the generators and detectors.

  • Patent number: 10480404
Abstract: A method is disclosed for injecting water into a multistage axial compressor of a gas turbine. With low equipment cost, a significant power enhancement can be achieved, even under changing boundary conditions, by water being injected at a plurality of points along the axial compressor, and by the injected water mass flow being controlled at the individual injection points in accordance with ambient conditions and operating parameters of the gas turbine in such a way that an evened-out loading in the individual stages of the axial compressor can be created.

Abstract: One aspect of the subject matter described herein comprises a database management system. The database management system comprises a communication circuit, an interface, and a processor. The communication circuit receives information from databases via a communication network. The interface allows user operation and interaction via the communication network and the database management system. The processor provides data to and receives data from the interface, including a plurality of alphanumeric records comprising at least one unique identifier, obtains database records from other databases for each unique identifier, identifies a number of alphanumeric records in the plurality having events in their histories, determines a percentage of alphanumeric records in the plurality having negative events in their histories, generates a report including the determined percentages, and conveys the report to the user.

  • Patent number: 9945642
Abstract: A protective wall for use in a structure such as a ship comprises a first and second metal layer, with an armor plate in between and layers of elastomeric material between the armor plate and the first and second metal layer respectively. The first and second metal layer having a higher ductility than the armor plate, the armor plate being mounted between the first and second metal layer in a way that allows the first and second metal layers to stretch relative to armor steel plate at least in response to forces resulting from impact by fragments from an explosion. When an explosion occurs in a space bounded by the protective wall, the first and second metal layer deflect under the pressure pulses due to blasts, stretching relative to the armor plate. The armor plate blocks high speed fragments.

  • Patent number: 9884359
Abstract: A die 20 used to form a metal tube into a tubular twist beam part 22 having a U-shaped torsion section 66 is provided. The die 20 includes a punch 44 and side form blocks 34 which simultaneously engage a metal tube and form the metal tube into the tubular twist beam part 22. The form blocks 34 have a curved profile which depends on the desired profile of the tubular twist beam part 22 to be formed. The die 20 includes horizontal spacer blocks 38 and vertical spacer blocks 32 restricting movement of the punch 44 and form blocks 34. The spacer blocks 32, 38 can have various different dimensions and can be easily removed and replaced to adjust the closing position of the die 20 and thus form multiple tubular twist beam parts 22 each having a different dimension and different roll rate.
