  • Patent number: 10802284
Abstract: Example methods, apparatuses and systems are disclosed for providing a device for capturing a barcode image within an augmented reality environment. An example method includes detecting a target object within a field of view of an augmented reality viewing device. The method further includes rendering an image of a scanning device within the field of view of the augmented reality viewing device, and rendering a scanning area within the field of view of the augmented reality viewing device. Further, a camera associated with the augmented reality viewing device captures an image of a barcode located on the target object. • Patent number: 10747975
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a device for reading machine-readable code. A processor, configured by a strike application program monitors for a strike against a surface of the device. The strike is caused by a user either striking the device against a non-device surface or striking the surface of the device without necessarily engaging a button, a capacitive surface, or a resistive surface of the device. The strike comprising a detected strike is detected. An identifying characteristic of the detected strike is determined and it is determined if the detected strike having the identifying characteristic correlates to a particular scan-related operation of the device. The particular scan-related operation correlating to the detected strike having the identifying characteristic is executed in response to determining that the detected strike having the identifying characteristic correlates to a particular scan-related operation.

  • Patent number: 10715974
Abstract: A method to associate a unique identifier (ID) of an object, such as a Bluetooth Low Energy beacon, to a spatial coordinate in a facility is described. In one embodiment, the method utilizes a visual indicator, such a barcode to transfer a beacon's unique ID to a mobile device. In another embodiment, the method transfers a beacon's unique ID to the mobile device via an optical data transmission. For either embodiment, the transfer is activated by a user prompting an activation sensor, such as a push button, on the beacon, or by the user sending a wireless signal from the mobile device to the beacon.

  • Patent number: 10440513
Abstract: An inventory tracking system includes a plurality of emitters that each emit a wireless signal and are placed at known locations relative to a plurality of storage areas in a warehouse, including a first storage area for storage of a specified item. The system further includes a mobile device that travels with a material handler. The mobile device: receives a first wireless signal from a first emitter that is one of the plurality of emitters; calculates a first distance between the material handler and the first emitter based on the first wireless signal; determines that the material handler is located at a stocking location for the first storage area based on the first distance and the known location of the first emitter; and sends a notification indicating that the material handler is at the stocking location for the first storage area.

  • Publication number: 20190279430
Abstract: The present invention embraces a system, device, and method for adding lighting effects to augmented reality (AR) content (i.e., virtual objects). Light sensors in an augmented reality (AR) system monitor an environment's lighting conditions to acquire lighting data that can be used to create (or update) virtual light sources. Depth sensors in the AR system sense the environment to acquire mapping data that can be used to create a 3D model of the environment while tracking the system's location within the environment. Algorithms running on a processor may then add the virtual light sources to the 3D model of the environment so that, when AR content is created, lighting effects corresponding to the virtual light sources can be added. The resulting AR content with virtual lighting effects appear more realistic to a user.

  • Patent number: 10394316
Abstract: A display control system for controlling visual features on a mobile device, according to one embodiment, includes a display screen disposed on a front side of the mobile device and configured to display at least one user interface element for a user. A front-facing camera disposed on the front side of the mobile device is configured to sense characteristics of the eyes of the user. A processing device processes these characteristics to determine a corresponding point on the display screen where the eyes of the user are directed. A user interface control unit switches the display screen from a regular display mode to a detailed display mode when it is determined that the corresponding point on the display screen where the eyes are directed coincides with a specific user interface element. The detailed display mode includes supplemental information related to the specific user interface element.

  • Patent number: 10395116
Abstract: A system for creating and/or dynamically updating indoor positioning maps includes an augmented reality (AR) device and a computing device communicatively coupled to the AR device. The AR device has a display for displaying AR content to a user that overlaps the AR device's perspective view of an environment. The AR device also has one or more depth sensors for gathering mapping data of physical objects in the environment. The computing device has a processor that is configured by software to create a three-dimensional (3D) indoor positioning map of the environment in a building based on the mapping data gathered by the AR device, and/or dynamically update the 3D indoor positioning map of the environment in the building based on the mapping data gathered by the AR device.

  • Patent number: 10372954
Abstract: A method of scanning and reading indicia off a display is disclosed. The method may utilize a light sensor of a mobile device to improve the quality of reading indicia, such as a barcode, off a display. A scanner illuminates the mobile device in order to increase the backlight intensity and obtain a high contrast image on the display and then ceases illumination in order to scan the high contrast image without specular reflection caused by the scanner illumination. In one embodiment, the scanner illuminates the mobile device for a period of time to achieve the maximum level of brightness that the mobile device is capable of emitting on the display in the period of time before ceasing the illumination. In another embodiment, the scanner detects whether the change in brightness is greater than predefined level before ceasing the illumination.

  • Patent number: 10373143
Abstract: An EEG POS system has an EEG device that detects electrical signals representing brain waves. A database of brain wave profiles represents a plurality of items to be identified. A live signal analyzer compares electrical signals from the EEG device with stored brain wave profiles in the database to identify entries in the database representing items that match the electrical signals from the EEG device, where items whose stored brain wave profiles match the electrical signals are considered identified items. A POS terminal is coupled to the live signal analyzer in order to log and tally items for a transaction.
