  • Publication number: 20170293352
Abstract: A display control system for controlling visual features on a mobile device, according to one embodiment, includes a display screen disposed on a front side of the mobile device and configured to display at least one user interface element for a user. A front-facing camera disposed on the front side of the mobile device is configured to sense characteristics of the eyes of the user. A processing device processes these characteristics to determine a corresponding point on the display screen where the eyes of the user are directed. A user interface control unit switches the display screen from a regular display mode to a detailed display mode when it is determined that the corresponding point on the display screen where the eyes are directed coincides with a specific user interface element. The detailed display mode includes supplemental information related to the specific user interface element.

  • Patent number: 9779276
Abstract: An indicia reading terminal has a three-dimensional depth sensor, a two dimensional image sensor, an autofocus lens assembly, and a processor. The three dimensional depth sensor captures a depth image of a field of view and create a depth map from the depth image, the depth map having one or more surface distances. The two dimensional image sensor receives incident light and capture an image therefrom. The autofocusing lens assembly is positioned proximate to the two dimensional image sensor such that the incident light passes through the autofocusing lens before reaching the two dimensional image sensor. The processor is communicatively coupled to the two dimensional image sensor, the three dimensional depth sensor, and the autofocusing lens assembly.

  • Patent number: 9767581
Abstract: Viewfinders for indicia-readers and/or mobile devices running indicia reading applications allow a user to position the reader with respect to the indicia. A display presents a real-time image of the camera as a background, while simultaneously presenting a graphical overlay that is superimposed on the background. The graphical overlay provides a user messages via text or graphics. Choosing a single color for the messages on the graphical overlay can lead to visibility problems in some imaging scenarios. The present invention provides a method and device to provide automatic contrast adjustment of these message based on the image characteristics beneath or around each message in order to maintain visibility in all imaging scenarios.

  • Publication number: 20170108838
Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) system, device, and method for reducing energy usage by monitoring and determining optimal control settings for conditions within a building. Sensors embedded in AR devices worn by workers performing job duties are utilized to detect and measure physical conditions such as visible light intensity and air temperature. Location, time/date, and worker occupancy data is also provided to the AR system. A time- and location-based data profile of environmental conditions within the building is created and regularly updated to track changes in environmental conditions over time. Algorithms running on a processor calculate and provide optimal control settings to building lighting and climate control systems. Optimal control settings take into account energy reduction goals, worker comfort, and regulatory compliance. The system utilizes the data profile to determine initial, reduced-energy control settings based on expected physical conditions within the building.
