  • Patent number: 7729305
Abstract: A method for providing a single-frequency network (SFN) service between a base station (BS) and a mobile station (MS) in a wireless communication system. The BS sets a first segment indicator in a medium access control (MAC) message field before transmission, if a resource allocation scheme corresponds to general data transmission. The BS sets a second segment indicator in the MAC message before transmission, if the resource allocation scheme corresponds to single frequency-based data transmission. The MS receives the MAC message from the BS, and performs renumbering according to the first segment indicator or the second segment indicator included in the received MAC message.

  • Patent number: 7647073
Abstract: Provided is a channel estimation apparatus and method in a broadband wireless communications system using a smart antenna are provided. In the channel estimation apparatus, an FFT processor converts a received time-domain signal into a frequency-domain signal by FFT-processing the received time-domain signal. A channel acquirer estimates a first channel information for an SDMA user using a preamble signal allocated to the SDMA user in the frequency-domain signal. A channel tracker estimates a second channel information for the SDMA user using pilots in a data area allocated to the SDMA user in the frequency-domain signal. A channel estimator estimates a final channel information by weighting the first channel information and the second channel information according to a channel change rate.

  • Publication number: 20090147733
Abstract: An apparatus and method for allocating a preamble index to a self configurable base station in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus comprises a first selector for selecting a segment IDentifier (ID) to be allocated to a Self Configurable-Base Station (SC-BS) by using a per-segment ID Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) estimated by the SC-BS, a second selector for selecting an ID cell to be allocated to the SC-BS by using geographical location information of surrounding BSs, and a communicator for transmitting a segment ID and the ID cell to the SC-BS.

  • Publication number: 20090005108
Abstract: An apparatus and method for dynamic frequency assignment to a low-power Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) measurement result for the whole Frequency Assignment (FA) and an available FA set of the BS from the BS newly entering a network, selecting an FA having a minimum RSSI among FAs included in the available FA set, and assigning the FA having the minimum RSSI to the BS.

  • Publication number: 20070026896
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for simultaneously receiving data signals of two adjacent frequency allocation (FA) in a cellular environment. When there is another base station using an adjacent FA to an FA of the base station, a subcarrier mapper maps control information to subcarriers of predetermined sections such that a mobile station simultaneously receives data signals of the adjacent FAs. An inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) processor IFFT-processes data mapped to the subcarriers. Because two different BSs transmit the same data through independent paths, the mobile station can obtain a macro diversity gain. Also, it is possible to balance the loads of the two BSs.

  • Publication number: 20060276191
Abstract: Provided is a method for determining handover of a mobile station by a serving base station in a mobile communication system. The method includes receiving traffic quality information from the mobile station; determining whether the traffic quality information satisfies a preset setting condition; if the traffic quality information satisfies the setting condition, sending a request for pilot signal strength measurement for the serving base station and adjacent base stations to the mobile station; receiving pilot signal strengths of the base stations, reported by the mobile station; determining whether there is a corresponding base station whose pilot signal strength exceeds the pilot signal strength of the serving base station; and determining handover of the mobile station to the corresponding base station.
