  • Publication number: 20200058230
Abstract: A word selection module of an assessment engine executed by a first computing device selects a word from a word database and modifies an administrator user interface displayed by the first computing device to include a display of the selected word and an interface element for scoring the selected word. The assessment engine modifies a subject user interface displayed by a second computing device to an assessment subject, to display the selected word. A feedback analysis module of the assessment engine receives an input to the administrator user interface and determines that the input indicates the assessment subject incorrectly read the selected word. A diagnoses module diagnoses a level of mastery of a phonics skill of the assessment subject. The assessment engine modifies the administrator user interface to include an identification of an activity for improving the diagnosed level of mastery.

  • Publication number: 20180353716
Abstract: A flow generator for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a processor coupled with operation sensors and a user interface. The processor is programmed to generate at least one of time-based or event-based messages relating to at least one of flow generator operation, flow generator service, flow generator use, patient health, peripheral devices and services, patient treatment, and reminders. Time-based messages are generated at predetermined time intervals based on either time of use or elapsed time. The event-based messages are generated based on signals from the operation sensors. The user interface is configured to deliver the messages to at least one of a display, a flow generator service provider, the patient and a physician. By this system, operation of the flow generator is facilitated and enhanced.

  • Patent number: 10114188
Abstract: A novel panel-mountable fiber optic cable feedthrough is described that has two main body parts that can be brought together around single or multiple fiber optic cables and secured in place to prevent slippage of the cable(s). Use of two such main body parts that split along a plane that passes through the axis of the fiber optic cable(s) allows joining the two main parts at any position along the cable(s) without the need to thread the cable(s) through one or more pre-formed cylindrical cavities in the body of the feedthrough. The main parts for this fiber optic feedthrough can be made by plastic injection molding suitably shaped to relieve bending strain in the glass optical fiber(s) within the cable(s). The foot-print for mounting such a feedthrough can be made compatible with that of a number of popular fiber optic connector mounts, including the SC-connector.

  • Patent number: 9982829
Abstract: An external sleeve arrangement for repairing a defective length of pipe has top and bottom segments for substantially encircling the pipe, where the bottom segment in addition has connector plates welded on either side. When the pipe and sleeve segments are made of a similar material, the sleeve segments are made thicker than the pipe wall, up to three times as thick or more, so that upon heating the sleeve segments for a given time they stretch relative to the pipe. After joining the stretched sleeve segments with the connector plates to form a continuous circumferential sleeve, the sleeve is cooled to provide an enhanced interference fit to reinforce the defective length of pipe. Prior to heating, the sleeve segments are clamped about the pipe using a clamping mechanism employing lugs connected to the segments and screw jacks engaging those lugs to draw the segments tight to the pipe.
