Patent number: 5689883Abstract: A shaving implement, such as a disposable cartridge or razor, comprises a shaving head which includes a skin-contacting element, in the form of a plurality of sections of flexible ridges. The ridges in each section are oriented alternately at positive and negative angles relative to the blade, in a herringbone pattern, and define flow-through recesses. Preferably, a ridge from each section is joined together with a ridge from an adjoining section, to form a chevron-shaped node between sections. When shaving, adjacent sections push areas of the skin in different directions, while the flow-through channels retain a layer of lubricating material on the skin, so that the cartridge provides a smooth, comfortable shave.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1995Date of Patent: November 25, 1997Assignee: Warner-Lambert CompanyInventors: Ernest A. Ortiz, Evan N. Chen

Patent number: 5377409Abstract: A cleaning mechanism for a flexible, twin-blade, wet-shaving unit designed to remove the debris that becomes lodged between the blades during shaving. The cleaning mechanism may be employed with a flexible razor units having a "slim" configuration and a centrally-fixed securing post extending through the unit. The cleaning mechanism includes an ejector bar operable between an advanced position and a retracted position and a pair of actuation return members for biasing the ejector bar to the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1992Date of Patent: January 3, 1995Assignee: Warner-Lambert CompanyInventor: Evan N. -
Patent number: 5157834Abstract: A razor mechanism particularly suited for use with a flexible cartridge having at least one attachment member moveable in a direction toward the longitudinal axis of the razor mechanism in response to the flexing of the razor cartridge during shaving and a cartridge support disposed in contact with the cartridge for assisting the cartridge in returning to a substantially linear configuration.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1990Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Warner-Lambert CompanyInventors: Evan N. Patent number: 5107590Abstract: A razor handle having a rigid core, and preferably a moldable resilient cover, adapted for attachment to a separately formed handle head. The rigid core of the razor handle in the present invention advantageously extends upwardly into the handle head. According to one preferred embodiment of the present invention, the rigid core is formed, at least in part, of a metal. The covering layer, because of its flexibility, compressibility and initial deformability, provides a comfortable secure surface for the razor user. The resilient cover provides a limit for compressibility as well as a compressive resilience desired by many users.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1991Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Warner-Lambert CompanyInventors: Charles J. Burout, III, Frank A. Ferraro, Evan N. Chen
