  • Patent number: 4285125
Abstract: A barber or straight edge razor houses a replaceable blade and includes a body member having a handle and a blade-receiving base portion, a clamp member detachably hinged to the base portion to comprise opposite halves of the razor, and bias apparatus between the razor halves above the hinge for urging the lower portions of the razor halves relatively toward each other to retain the blade therebetween. The blade is releasable by moving the upper portions of the razor halves relatively toward one another. Along a rear gripping portion of the razor halves, one of the halves is structured to assume substantially all of the normal gripping forces so as to prevent inadvertent release of the blade, while the halves include a forward region which is structured to receive special pinching forces to release the blade. Upwardly and rearwardly inclined ridges in the blade-retaining region may be provided to aid in upward seating of the blade as it is moved rearwardly into the razor.

  • Patent number: 4205437
Abstract: An improved twin blade razor system having a unitary member positioned between the pair of blades for both spacing the blades and ejecting shaving debris from that space. The unitary member, which may conveniently be of injection molded plastic, includes a spacer portion, an ejector portion, and biasing means connecting the ejector portion and the spacer portion for biasing the ejector portion to a normally retracted position relative to the blades and spacer. The ejector portion extends across in front of but is substantially discontinuous behind the spacer portion, resulting in a compact front-to-rear configuration for the unitary member which may be housed in a relatively compact twin blade system. The ejector portion is manually displaceable to an advanced ejecting position. The biasing portion may be one or more beam springs connected and configured to reduce distortion and/or stressing of the relatively moving portions of the member during actuation.

  • Patent number: 4159567
Abstract: An injector-type razor into which a blade may be mounted by means of a blade dispenser. The razor comprises the two-part assembly of a plastic molded main frame with handle and a spring-tensioned blade seat.

  • Patent number: 4146958
Abstract: A safety razor contains a blade cartridge in which two blades are rigidly secured. The cartridge has a seat member with an integral blade edge guard disposed transversely along its forward margin. A first razor blade is disposed on a planar surface of the seat member and has its cutting edge located rearwardly of the guard. A second razor blade having a cutting edge located parallel to and rearwardly of the first blade edge is in contact with a mating surface of a cap member. The cap member is secured to the seat member thereby clamping the blades in desired position. The blades are maintained at a predetermined distance apart by spacing means and the guard member has a plurality of projecting teeth transversely arrayed across the guard member forming a comb guard.

  • Patent number: 4078552
Abstract: The specific disclosure provides a device and method of making an incision of precise dimensions in a patient, preferably in the forearm, and determining exact bleeding from initial puncture of the skin until the flow of blood has ceased, i.e. hemostatis is complete. The device comprises a housing including a blade aperture at one end thereof adapted to be positioned in abutting engagement with the skin of the subject. A spring member and a blade member having at least one cutting edge are located in the housing. Means are also provided in the housing and is connected to the blade member for retracting the blade member inwardly from the blade aperture and against the bias of the spring member. Manually operable means are provided for releasably engaging the retracting means to maintain the blade member in a retracted position against the bias of the spring member until the device is ready for use.
