  • Patent number: 10262250
Abstract: Systems and methods for using facial patterns for information access via optical barcodes are provided. In example embodiments, a computer accesses an image. The computer determines, using facial recognition, that the accessed image includes a face. The computer determines, using the face, an orientation of the image. The computer decodes, based on the determined orientation of the image, data encoded within the geometric shape. The computer may then access a resource based on the decoded data. In some aspects, a graphical output may be presented on a display device indicating the accessed resource.

  • Patent number: 10212541
Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for selective location-based identity communication. The systems and methods identify a current location of a mobile computing device and detect a selection of a user interface element associated with the current location. The systems and methods cause presentation of a set of display elements corresponding to the current location and detect selection of a display element of the set of display elements. The systems and methods modify a display characteristic for the current location of the mobile computing device within a set of mobile computing devices based on the selection of the display element.

  • Patent number: 10200813
Abstract: A computer implemented method may include receiving geo-location data from a device of a user; comparing the geo-location data with a geo-location fence associated with an event; determining that the geo-location data corresponds to the geo-location fence associated with the event; responsive to the determining that the geo-location data corresponds to the geo-location fence associated with the event, supplying user-selectable event gallery information, associated with an event gallery of the event, to the device for addition to a destination list on the device; detecting selection of the user-selectable event gallery information in the destination list by the user of the device; and/or responsive to the detecting of the selection of the user-selectable event gallery information by the user of the device, adding the user as a follower of the event, with access to the event gallery.

  • Patent number: 10135949
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating and managing stories and sub-stories presented to a user's client device are described. In one example embodiment, a server system communicates a portion of a first story to a first client device based on a first client device association with a user segment assigned to the first story. The server system receives a first selection communication associated with a first piece of content of the first story, accesses a second story based on the selection, and communicates a portion of the second story to the first client device.

  • Publication number: 20180315133
Abstract: Among other things, embodiments of the present disclosure improve the functionality of electronic messaging and imaging software and systems by determining the current activities of users based on location sensor information from the users' computing devices and generating customized media content items based on their activities. The media content can be generated for a variety of topics and shared with other users. For example, media content (e.g., images or video) can be generated and displayed on a user's computing device, as well as transmitted to other users via electronic communications, such as short message service (SMS) or multimedia service (MMS) texts and emails.

  • Patent number: 10082926
Abstract: A server has a processor and a memory storing a multiple channel message thread module with instructions executed by the processor to identify when participants at client devices are actively viewing a common message thread at the same time to establish a participant viewing state. An alternate channel communication lock prompt is supplied to the client devices in response to the participant viewing state. An alternate channel communication is delivered to the client devices in response to activation of the alternate channel communication lock prompt by at least one participant.

  • Patent number: 10075404
Abstract: A server has a processor and a memory storing instructions executed by the processor to maintain an ephemeral gallery of ephemeral messages, where each ephemeral message is a photograph or a video. An ephemeral message is posted to the ephemeral gallery. The ephemeral message has an associated message duration parameter and a gallery participation parameter. An ephemeral message is removed from the ephemeral gallery in response to the identification of an expired gallery participation parameter. The ephemeral gallery is eliminated upon expiration of either a gallery timer or upon expiration of the gallery participation parameter of a last message posted to the ephemeral gallery. The ephemeral gallery is preserved in response to a gesture applied to an indicium to save the ephemeral gallery to produce a preserved gallery.

  • Patent number: 10055717
Abstract: A computer implemented method includes identifying a special character in a message generated by a sender. A money transfer prompt is supplied to the sender in response to the special character. A transfer amount is validated. An account transfer for the transfer amount is initiated. The message is sent to a recipient with indicia of the account transfer.

  • Publication number: 20180121451
Abstract: Systems and methods for automated local story generation and curation are described. In one example embodiment, a server computer receives content from client devices, and processes the content to identify content characteristics. Stories are then generated based on the characteristics of the received content, and the stories are communicated to client devices. In certain embodiments, selection at a client device of an individual piece of content within a story may further be used by the system to provide the client device with a sub-story that includes pieces of content sharing content characteristics with the characteristics of the selected image or video.

  • Patent number: 9911073
Abstract: Systems and methods for using facial patterns for information access via optical barcodes are provided. In example embodiments, a computer accesses an image, the image including a geometric shape. The computer determines, using a facial recognition module, that the accessed image includes a face inside the geometric shape. The computer determines, using the face inside the geometric shape, an orientation of the geometric shape. The computer decodes, based on the determined orientation of the geometric shape, data encoded within the geometric shape. The computer accesses, via a network, a resource that corresponds to the decoded data. The computer presents, at a display device, a graphical output corresponding to the accessed resource.

  • Patent number: 9882907
Abstract: A computer implemented method includes allowing a user to access a user-controlled social network profile page with posts in a specified order. A user is permitted to traverse an interface element across the specified order to establish a set position for the interface element. Access to posts is provided on a first side of the set position to define a viewable profile. Access to posts is blocked on a second side of the set position to define a non-viewable profile.

  • Publication number: 20170374003
Abstract: A server maintains a gallery of ephemeral messages. Each ephemeral message is posted to the gallery by a user for viewing by recipients via recipient devices. In response to a gallery view request from any of the recipient devices, the ephemeral messages in the gallery are displayed on the requesting device in automated sequence, each message being displayed for a respective display duration before display of the next message in the gallery. Each ephemeral message has an associated message availability parameter, at the expiry of which the ephemeral message is made unavailable for viewing as part of the gallery. At expiry of the message availability parameter of the last posted message, the gallery is made unavailable for viewing upon request by any recipient.
