  • Patent number: 10606267
Abstract: A tool for protecting outdoor objects from weather related damage. Responsive to a registration request, the tool registers an object and an originating location where the object is currently located. The tool determines whether a risk threshold for the object is exceeded based, at least in part, on weather conditions at the originating location. Responsive to a determination that the risk threshold for the object is exceeded, the tool instructs one or more drones to relocate the object from an originating location to a protected location that is protected from the weather conditions.

  • Patent number: 10482770
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product controls operations of a vehicle based on a condition of cargo being transported. One or more processors receive output from a camera on a first cargo vehicle, wherein the output from the camera describes a movement of cargo caused by movement of the first cargo vehicle. The processor(s) determine, based on the output from the camera, that the movement of the first cargo vehicle has caused cargo in the first cargo vehicle to shift beyond a predetermined amount, and transmit instructions to a second cargo vehicle to adjust initial cargo loading operations on the second cargo vehicle based on determining that the movement of the first cargo vehicle has caused the cargo to shift beyond the predetermined amount in the first cargo vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20190329806
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, a system, and a computer program product for managing safety for a railway system. A computer system generates a probability of a safety issue for a particular section of a railroad track in the railway system using information from a set of weather event sources. A set of unmanned aerial vehicles is dispatched to the particular section of the railroad track when the probability of the safety issue exceeds a threshold. A number of images of the particular section of the railroad track is received from the set of unmanned aerial vehicles. A risk score for the safety issue at the particular section of the railroad track is generated using the number of images by the computer system. An action is performed to resolve the safety issue using the risk score, enabling the computer system to manage safety issues for the railway system.

  • Publication number: 20190325717
Abstract: A processor may identify that a first device is in a first state. The first device may be paired with a second device that is configured to analyze one or more physical characteristics of an object. The processor may identify, using the second device, a physical characteristic of the object while the first device is in the first state. The processor may determine that the first device has transitioned to a second state. The processor may identify the physical characteristic of the object while the first device is in the second state. The processor may compare the physical characteristic of the object when the first device was in the first state to the physical characteristic of the object when the when the first device is in the second state. The processor may alert a user of the comparing.

  • Publication number: 20190278235
Abstract: Methods, computer program products, and systems are presented. The methods include, for instance: obtaining an input including an image of a plant, identifying a species of the plant by use of visual recognition of the image. The image is analyzed for symptoms and candidate diagnoses are selected from a diagnostic repository according to the symptoms. With respective candidate diagnoses, a confidence score and a treatment regimen are associated. According to a treatment mode, the candidate diagnoses and treatment regimen are delivered.

  • Publication number: 20190265056
Abstract: A method directs a self-driving cargo vehicle to take an alternate route based on cargo sensor readings from another cargo vehicle. One or more processors receive output from a cargo sensor and a camera, which describe an amount of movement of first cargo being transported by a first cargo vehicle on a first cargo vehicle. The processor(s) evaluate a profile of a controller on a second cargo vehicle, which is a self-driving vehicle, and which is transporting second cargo that is a same type of cargo as the first cargo. The processor(s) determine an alternate route for the second cargo vehicle, and then transmit instructions to the controller to take the second cargo vehicle on the alternate route.

  • Publication number: 20190244157
Abstract: A method and system to assist people traveling together through a transport hub. Access to personal data is provided for members of a group of people traveling together through the transport hub for a trip. A preferred route is mapped, from a current location of the group, for each person to travel through the transport hub. A group route, which is route to be commonly used by each person of the group, is selected. Sub-groups of members are selected to travel through the transport hub together in response to matching personal data. The personal data, travel data for the group, and transport hub data corresponding to the transport hub are monitored. Each person is alerted, in response to the monitored values, to begin moving from the current location towards a departure location along the selected group route to arrive at the departure location at a desired arrival time.

  • Publication number: 20190215772
Abstract: A cognitive assistant for mobile devices in low power mode. A first signal may be received from a mobile device via a communication network, the first signal indicating that the mobile device entered low power mode. Responsive to receiving the first signal, communications from a plurality of servers directed to the mobile device may be registered to be rerouted to another device. Communications' content may be analyzed and the communications assigned weights. A selected set of communications that are assigned weights exceeding a threshold value is transmitted to the mobile device in low power mode.

  • Publication number: 20190202463
Abstract: A protective action system and method includes detecting the impending weather conditions for a geographic region, and in response to detecting the impending weather conditions, determining that an initial location of the autonomous vehicle is located in the geographic region affected by the impending weather conditions, calculating a current risk of damage to the autonomous vehicle based on the impending weather conditions in the geographic region and a current state of the autonomous vehicle, comparing the current risk of damage to a threshold of acceptable risk of damage, wherein, the current risk of damage exceeds a threshold of acceptable risk, assessing a user calendar to determine that taking a protective action by the autonomous vehicle is acceptable, and instructing the autonomous vehicle to take the protective action so that the current state of the autonomous vehicle is changed to a safe state to avoid damage from the impending weather conditions.

  • Patent number: 10330483
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product determines an alternate route for a cargo vehicle based on driving profiles of vehicle controllers and sensor readings from another cargo vehicle. One or more processors receive output from a cargo sensor and a camera, on a first cargo vehicle that is controlled by a first controller. The output from the cargo sensor and the camera describe an amount of movement of first cargo being transported by the first cargo vehicle. The processor(s) evaluate a profile of a second controller of a second cargo vehicle that is transporting second cargo similar in type to the first cargo, and determine an alternate route for the second cargo vehicle based on the profile of the second controller. The processor(s) then transmit instructions to the second controller to take the second cargo vehicle on the alternate route.

  • Patent number: 10219114
Abstract: A computer program product and a computer system for monitoring an operation status of a disconnected device by a mobile device and an audio analysis system in an infrastructure. The mobile device has connectivity to the infrastructure while the disconnected device has no connectivity to the infrastructure. The mobile device receives from the user a selection of the disconnected device in a list of disconnected devices, determines a location of the mobile device, and determines whether the mobile device is in proximity to a predefined location of the disconnected device. The mobile device invokes passive listening to a sound generated by the disconnected device. The mobile device determines whether the sound can be detected. The mobile device steams audio with information of a location of the mobile device to the audio analysis system. The mobile device receives a notification of the operation status of the disconnected device.
